Running faults

I took my Vrs fabia up to Crail on Sunday. After a long wait to go down the strip, when I got to the lights the car had no boost unless I revved the balls off the her to start with. When it did have boost the engine management light popped on half way down the strip and went I to limp home mode! The car has plenty of torque normally but won't go past 110 without the management light coming on(limp mode). Flick the key off and back on and all the power comes back. The car has a strait pipe with a remap by awesome gti. The guy I bought the car of told me ha had fitted a hybrid turbo but the remap receipt is for the owner before him. And the car still has a side mount intercooler. Could it be that the remap isn't for the standard turbo or could it be the intercooler? Any advice would be much appreciated. The cars fastest time was a 15.8 and I feel she is capable of much more.

Awesome may be able to tell you the spec when they mapped the car.

Given what you've said, I suspect you've started with a hot SMIC (particularly if you were idling the engine to keep it hot and you don't have a vent mod) and the hybrid turbo has then put you into overboost.

Not 100% confident that it had a hybrid turbo if I'm honest. The guy I bought the car off said it did. But I have no receipts to back this up. It made 171 on the rolling road with just the map. I done the exhaust on her but the limp mode problem had been happening since I bought the car. I may get I touch with awesome gti and try to get some info. AG Motorsport have said it could be a sticky actuator on the turbo and a few have suggested to change the plastic pipe on the afm as they can collapse under boost. Also to point out the car doesn't have the usual black reak out the exhaust. Could it be a fuelling problem perhaps?

Awesome aren't notorious for "smokey maps". 171bhp sounds like one of their generic maps, so let's shelf the idea of the turbo unless there's some sort of evidence that it's not standard.

The AFM pipe is possible, but the pipes that have the worst rep for collapsing in VAG cars (all marques, not just Skoda) are the externally fabric armoured ones. Having said that, it's not unusual for the plastic ones to crack, normally in places you can't see unless your head's about 1" diameter and on a 2' long flexible neck.

Yeah my brothers golf is remapped by awsome and its smokey as hell! Have you scanned it with vcds?
