VRS - 1 week & 800 miles in pics & quick review

Featured Replies

So I've had the car for 1 week and completed 800 miles in that time.

Thought I'd give a quick review of my thoughts and comparisons to my Golf mk7 GT Tdi that I traded in for the VRS

I ordered the car from dealer stock and it was registered and delivered on the 11th September. I change my car quite often, and therefor tend to buy pre-reg or dealer stock rather than wait for a factory order.

Few pics of it on delivery day;

This is the best return I've had from the car as yet (very pleased with it);

Things I like;

Space.

The Columbus sat nav / screen.

Performance & economy.

Winter pack.

Engine and gearbox feel very much like my previous Golf.

Adaptive headlights are great. Thought they'd be gimmicky, but really pleasantly surprised but them.

The sunroof isn't something I'd probably spec, but very pleased with it so far.

Things I don't like;

Area at the back of the sunroof squeaks when the car hits a bump.

Numbers on the dials follow the outside edge rather than being the right way up all the way around. Can see no logical explanation for doing this.

No cloth on the door cards. Not sure it should be possible to spend £25k on a car without it.

Mirrors don't have wide angle lens. Very poor this - should be fitted to every car for safety reasons.

Handbrake lever on the wrong side.

The individual setting of the VRS mode should allow you to configure more items. I'd like the sport engine setting, but no extra sound generation. And be able to turn off stop/start.

I'd like the car to have some more internal lighting. The Golf had door handle and footwell lighting in the front (incidentally my Mrs' A Class has door handle, door pull, and footwell lighting front and rear. And even has lights in the headrests. Really gives the car a warm comforting glow at night). So a extended lighting pack would be a nice option to have.

Other than that, love it. Its economical, fast, comfortable and understated. I do a lot of business miles with work, so it fulfils the requirements of mile muncher and family car very well.

There is lighting for interior door handles tho not well situated compared to my previous Superb. I have seen ambient footwell lighting in a Leon and really liked it so could probably retro fit it later.

Glad you like it though

Very nice review summit up nicely

car looks good in black

Pretty good considering still running in / tight engine.
