Roomster PD105 buying advice

Featured Replies

Looking at a Roomster PD105 with 177k how reliable is the PD105 or do I just keep looking! Also any other advice about a Roomster would be greatly appreciated

pd engine is pretty solid

can have issues with the EGR valve getting gummed up

make sure you have a good service history as if the oil changes not been done on time or with the correct spec oil there can be wear issues on the cam shaft

also make sure the belt changes have been done on time

how old is the car?

It's an early model 56 plate I think

so about 20k per year

shouldn't be a major issue so long as the servicing and belt changes have been done

my roomster reached 165,000 in 5 years

I did have a few issues mainly wiring related,

I had a thing where the anti shudder valve stopped working and on investigation two of the wires had worn through, simple fix to splice in some new wire but a couple of hours work as I had to remove the EGR / shudder valve so too chance to clean the EGR etc (tooth brush , brake cleaner etc)

wires broke on reversing light switch plug

other thing is to look at is the console bushes but common issue cheapish and easy fix by an indy garage

mine was an 07 (ML07 **P), if that one I can let you know history (it was cat D'ed)

Ahh all stuff I can handle! They spritely enough? Not meaning really quick but I just want something comfortable to cruise in!

2006? That IS an early one!

I expect at 20K/ year it's a lot of motorway miles so no probs. As long as it's had the correct PD oil I wouldn't hesitate if it's cheap enough.

Nope it would stay very standard if I got one!

mine was an 07 (ML07 **P) 168,000 miles, if that one I can let you know history (it was cat D'ed march 2012 when I used the rear of a Renault to stop)

used to do kent to brum every week, used cruise most of the time, could do a fair pace on the m40

used to tow some fair loads and shift loads of ikea flat packs internally,

do miss it due to versatility of the rear where you can take the rear seats out easilly

Sod the renault :P I'll be looking at a hearing aid beige one tomorrow!

mine was a blue metallic,

beige (puke / full nappy colour ) do you get a discount for the colour?

putting that colour on what many call a fugly design you should get it at a good price or be paid to take it :)

I used to tell people I could not see the out side when I was driving it so did not care, and when several had travelled it they could see why I loved it

It's about £2900

Having just bought a Roomster price and how quickly they sell does seem to be more dependent on the specification and level of trim then engine size and mileage (providing it has a full service history).
