Octavia Vrs brakes

Featured Replies

Just been out on Northyorkire moor roads. Only doing 60mph (honest). Twice in a couple of miles,I had a close encounter with sheep. 1st time 3 sheep ran from behind a mound across the road. A walker put his hands over his ears and ran. The brakes stopped me with ease without having to stand on them.No skid,no noise,no going off course. Perfect. Walker waved, I waved, walker & driver enjoying the countryside in harmony. Best brakes I've had.

They certainly look the best of any car I've owned and so far have been very effective in the first 500 miles of use. Big brakes plus lighter car should be a good combination.

I had a bum twitching high speed stop down to 65mph from 130mph on autobahn after a twit in a wandering VW T5 decided to nod off / tie his shoes laces into my lane!!

I have to agree, the brakes are hugely effective & confidence inspiring to a level I never thought possible. As you say London Les, a light car with epic brakes make a very good.combination.

Did anybody compare vrs brakes with non vrs models brakes?

I had a 2.0 150 tdi on loan for a couple of days and the brakes felt decidedly lacking, which was a little worrying as in a straight line it felt almost as quick as the tdi vrs.

I've only put 150 miles on my vRS but have to agree with the comments above, they are very good.

They also look fantastic behind the Extremes. On a side note what would people suggest cleaning them with to keep them nice and red?

Pressure washer...

The VRS brakes have better feel and stopping power than any of my previous stock-braked cars. I would say they feel as good as the uprated Brembo's installed on my Impreza STI IV. but I have not yet taken the VRS on-track so have no idea how they will perform after some sustained abuse.

On normal roads VTS brakes are great. Braking performance certainly exceeds the cars engine and handling performance.

To make them look as-new you need to take the wheel off and use a kids toothbrush. A pressure washer is the easy/90% option.

The bakes on my PP GTI - same as VRS - are superb, did not experience any fade at Blyton whereas the brakes on my MK2 Octy faded badly when tracked

Does anybody know if the brakes on the L&K 1.8TSi are the same as the VRS ?

Wouldn't have thought so. Perhaps 312mm?

If you remove our foot off the go pedel do the brakes not pre-fill expecting a brake application.

There primed and ready  (or something like that )

Wish the brakes on my company Vehicle were as good, sheep out, apply brakes, stop in 1000 yards, sheep killed.

The VRS (III) brake disks (front) are 340mm: the same as the Golf 7 GTI with performance pack. Rear brake disks are 272mm...

ŠKODA Octavia - Prefill system

A smart element of the ESC system is the prefill feature. The Octavia Estate will recognise when your foot has been abruptly lifted off the accelerator and anticipates that this may be followed by a sharp depression of the brake pedal. To prepare for this braking, the car automatically increases pressure in the brake system by “prefilling” the brake hydraulics with fluid. This speeds up the braking effect for optimal stopping.
