A few days ago I went back to my car and tried to open the boot remotely (with the boot release switch on the key) and nothing happened. I pressed the boot release manually and nothing happened. I then tried the switch to open as a hatch back and the lights flashed and the mechanism "turned" but the boot still would not open.

 

I have checked the fuse (10 amp at position 17 in the cab) and tried disconnecting and re-connecting the battery, but the boot still won't open.

 

I'm out of ideas unless the boot motor has just given up the ghost. Can anyone help?

Hi Stu,

 

You mention the door motor - I presume when you press the release its not making any mechanical noises either?

There is a manual release if you climb through the car to the boot and remove the panel at the boot edge near the latch if you just need to get it open.

Hi numskull, yes that's right, no noise from the boot motor

As Psycholist says, there is a procedure to open the boot lid in an emergency, it is shown in the owners manual.
