Coolant leak, please help

Featured Replies

Hello, noticed that I'm loosing coolant at a ridiculous rate half a litre a day. I can see where it's coming from. Hope u guys could shed some light on what it is 44fdcfa4bf5db885dd80ad5333ce21f7.jpg

U can see at the back where the metal pipe links into some corrugated hose with a smaller pipe coming off. It's leaking from there.

After taking it to the garage I've been advised that its the pipes leading to the heater matrix. Could just be the o rings that have gone?

Have a look at the back behind the engine . should see two pipes going into the bulk head. That's where I had my leak. Was only visible once my engine cooled down. Was a easy £1 fix.

How difficult are these pipes to the heater matrix to remove do I have to drain the coolant system completely?

Sounds like it's draining itself anyhow.

Undo the centre bolt and pop the pipes out. Change the o rings and refit. Top up the coolant with G13 and run up.

Does it need to be bled in anyway after I have topped it up? Where can I get the o rings from?

The O-rings are part number N 90890501

You need to get them from Skoda. You need two of them of course.

The system is pretty much self-bleeding but the level will probably settle after driving it as the air gets purged, so check it again when the engine is cold.

As Tech1e says, don't forget to use G12 or G13 antifreeze. You can't just bung any old antifreeze in.
