Yeti price increase for servicing

Featured Replies

Just phoned Robinsons Skoda Group in Norwich for the wife's Yeti SE TDI CR110 for a service as it has come up with 39, 500 miles and surprised at the large price increase?

Oil change in August 2011 was £89.20 for oil, oil filter and sump plug.

Full service in March 2014 was £205.00

Robinsons are now quoting

Minor service (oil change) £139.00

Major service                     £259.00

Anybody else seen this sudden price mark up as I wish I could put up my service business suddenly to these price increases?

Changing the oil for £139.00 seems steep to me knowing what the price of oil is bought in bulk.

Looks like I will have to service my wife's car myself with such a mark up.

Those prices are Skoda menu pricing. It's a Skoda manufacturers set service price menu. Bit like if you want a big mac from McDonald's same price in all McDonald's restaurants. Your dealer has agreed with Skoda to the manufacturers menu price scheme.

Also question that price as your Yeti at 39000 miles is probably only due a oil and filter and a pollen filter. A major service is due at 60000 and that would be oil and filter , pollen / fuel& air filter.

Phone around and I think you'll find quite a variation.

Also consider a Skoda approved Service Centre rather than a main dealer. I've been using a local one for years, excellent service.

Hmmm Robinsons have serviced my previous Yeti and always found them excellent value, looks like I'll be shopping elsewhere for the new one.

Just had a minor service done and was charged £154.13 ,I did shop around and this seemed quite reasonable against some of the prices I was quoted.

Its a pain having to pay this just for the stamp in service book to keep guarantee up to date.

Putting your price against mine perhaps you didn't do too bad

You've been lucky that your dealer has been charging so little.

The £139 (minor / fixed) service and £259 (major / variable) prices are now set by Skoda UK for all of their franchised dealers.

Never pay for the £259 service until your car has either reached 60,000 miles of 5 years of age, all they do is replace the oil and oil filter so you may as well pay for the £139 service.

I've got a service plan on mine. Just pay £15 pm for 3 years servicing with no price rises

If you are lucky and you have "Service and Maintenance", you will also get a brake fluid change and one air-con service during the 3 years. If the car needs an MOT this is also included.

When buying new I asked if the MOT was included at the end of the 3 yr contract but was told no, although the brake change was. I'm sure somebody will change there mind over the coming years though.
