plastics on new rapid space back noisy?

Featured Replies

Hi all, picked up my rapid this morning... It's the spaceback black edition and absolutely love it! Nice drive, impressed with the 1.2tsi Very functional inside with out being to complicated love the nav and bt.... I got a question tho.... This is my first new car so iv nothing to compare it to but the plastics in the cabin in particular the doors seem to be making a lot of noise like clicking / squeaking?? Like the fit isn't right? It looks great and when you are on smother roads it is fine, just rougher / slower roads it's very noticeable..... Do new cars need time to settle in? Ie do the plastics settle down after a while, or are the Rapids a bit noisy ? Or at worst do I have a dud lol ?

Any advice would be greatly revived...

Love the car tho!!

I had two Fabia's before the Rapid they have all squeaked and creaked to some extent depending on the road surface.

Thanks John, suppose you get used to it??

Like our previous original Yeti's I've found the Spaceback prone to 'squeaky' door seals, due I believe to a little flex in the body shell. Noticed this with all but one of the Spacebacks I've driven so far.

Have put some Autoglym rubber care on all the inner and outer door seals on ours and its quietened right down, although the drivers door started again so probably needs a reapplication. Cannot remember the name of the product but someone in the Yeti section recommend something that seemed to work for quite some time on keeping the seals squeak free, might be worth posting there.

great thanks guys ill give that a go!

Sounds like good stuff will have to try some.

It is a superb product - been using it for a couple of years now. Fantastic for stopping the seals from squeaking, sticking (often an issue of rear doors aren't used much) and with regular use it will also help stop the rubbers from freezing in winter.

Yer I brought some for my Octavia. It's great stuff and will sort out your issues

If you take your rapid in to your local skoda they will reaply the factory stuff... It's a fix that skoda have issued. I think I take mine in every couple of months at the moment. I was in a rush to pick up the wife last time so didn't really hear what the service advisor was saying at the time.

thanks JonBRapid, will do, it's only a few days old so it shouldn't be a problem for them. The dealer seemed pretty good. Fred Rees down in Haverfordwest. I will pop it in next week some time.

similar noises experienced on my seat Toledo ,the  build quality leaves a lot to be desired, i have eradicated a squeak on the drivers door window seal, but one near the passengers air vent has me totally baffled having removed just about everything

My drivers door window seems to squeek and its starting to get annoying as it started a month after I got the car.

From a cold start, most of the dashboard creaks on initial pull away, but stops after a minute or so of driving.

I had this on my Octavia and was fixed under warranty [emoji106]

Anyone else's windscreen wipers clunk at the top of the arc?
