Stained windscreen

Featured Replies

I wonder where Autoglass source their screens? A few years ago I had a Mini (the BMW one, not a real one), the screen got a small chip that immediately turned into a crack, so had it replaced by Autoglass. The new screen was far from flat, having ripples and high spots that prevented the wipers from making proper contact across the whole screen. This screen caught a small stone chip within three weeks and quickly cracked. Next replacement was done at one of my clients factories. In their area, the insurer's nominated repairers where National Windscreens. The screen they supplied was a good quality item, no ripples, nice fit and it went on to last around 150,000 miles, none of the little chips that it picked up ever spread into a crack. My reckoning is that Autoglass use cheap and nasty screens.

I did ask the guy where they get them from and he said they get them from anywhere they can [emoji15]

This windscreen was another VW stamped screen. I've polished it up inside and out. We'll see how this one gets on. I've been dealing with Autoglass for over 20 years and never had this problem before.
