Scrappage scheme results

a shame so many Favorits went. As mentioned on the SOC GB FB page, some would now be worth more if they hadn't been scrapped.

Favorits I can totally understand getting rid of, but look at some of the genuine classics that went. Loads of Triumphs for example.

It's quite entertaining looking at the terrible spellings, presumably from garage staff.

Lots of MGBs gone, gutting should've dropped down to us probably given them more for it :)

Never before has so much harm been done to the Citroen name :-(

Look at the Felicia spellings too.

This was on a transporter when we had a scrappage trade in collected.

Hillman Hunter?

I did post it up on another forum at the time, which seemed to **** off one of the previous owners of the car who was on there (unknown to me).

Alot of good cars went through. We went to a scrappy after it first started and I couldn't believe the condition of some of them

Sent from my Galaxy S5

Alfa 155s. I'd love to have had one of those.

Lanica HF Integrale, Skyline GT-R?! And a BMW 3.0 CSI. Crazy people. I just hope they didn't get something like a Panda or other supermini and at least got a worthy replacement.

It was a real shame for the entire second hand car market, all the descent stuff went to scrap, hat was left was the rubbish and that got expensive to buy.

My old primera avoided been wrote off due to the scrappage scheme

8 people scrapped Felicia Funs :(

All three of those cars were surely worth more then the 2 grand they were given!?

The Lancia may well have been a complete rot box that couldn't be saved, but yep, it does look like some were worth more than £2k.

The Felicia Funs mentioned above could have been well under that. A lot of them now are high mileage sheds.

IIRC, the cars had to be MOTed and roadworthy to be eligible, so you couldn't scrap a car that was already dead.

It had to have an MOT, but I'm led to believe that some garages had been known to take in a crappy old wreck on scrappage and issue an MOT for it then ship it off to be crushed knowing that it would never be used on the road.

That spreadsheet is the most depressing thing I've ever read. Can't believe how many Volvo 900s went.

Oh man... VOLKSWAGEN,Jetta Syncro,1

At the time of the Scrapage sheme folk were buying old wrecks with an MOT for a hundred or two pounds then trading them in for the £2k. discount.  Bit of cheating going on there but what do you expect with a Government scheme.  Some traders made it thier Bread & Butter income.

An Astra Artic. Funny, I had an Arctic but didn't need an HGV licence  :D

It may be a daft question but were all these vehicles definitely scrapped or did some survive? Looking at the list I cannot for a second believe that some of these cars were destroyed. The BMW 3.0 CSI is worth a fair bit of money even in awful condition.

I can perhaps understand things like the Fun being offed as their merit only seems to be being realised now.
