royal mail lost my v5c

Featured Replies

Sent my logbook of for my skoda on the 22/9/14 via 1st class recorded signed for delivery as I have moved house

Checked track and trace online and it states that it still is in process of delivery, max 1st class ever takes is 7 working days

Really annoyed if they have lost it as I will have to fill a v62 and pay a £25 fee

will wait another week just in case it was just misplaced

I took a picture of the logbook prior to sending but should have made a photocopy like I usually do :@

So the advice I give you is when sending a logbook use special next day delivery for guaranteed delivery and make a photocopy just incase

Recorded Signed For is insured is it not?

PITA nevertheless!

Yes it is however have to wait 20 days before putting in a complaint and then a further wait for them to investigate and thing of a outcome and it's just a ball ache for free

I got some mis delivered mail, I now own another mk2 Octavia, apparently its in Birmingham somewhere according to the last owners address. If you hold the V5 you are the registered keeper, so I better go get it!

10 Days ago they told me that they lost stuff i sent 6 weeks ago,

and that it was past the 3 weeks in which it should be logged as opened.  & tough.

Today the Documents came back to me.

So they are behind their Mission Times, and basically the DVLA are hopeless at communications.

Their systems seem to be unable to cope, I taxed new car yesterday using the online system, told the car was taxed, then checked their online car checker, car is still coming up as untaxed.

SWMBO had to send our marriage certificate off today so she could get her name change etc. she sent it recorded and everything, still not a fan of sending official docs to DVLA.

Yep hate sending them because now if for some reason my car was to get compounded I wouldn't be able to get it out due to no logbook

If you read the front of the v5c it actually states you do not own it but are the person responsible for taxing it.

Royal Mail lost my iPhone 5 this week.

They do such a great job.

Sorry in English please

That was English. Get a dictionary.

But to save you a confusing journey of discovery 'I jest' means I'm joking.

Royal Mail lost my iPhone 5 this week.

They do such a great job.

So basicly a royal mail worker stole your phone lol

So basicly a royal mail worker stole your phone lol

I did a bit of temping at the Parcel Force depot at Canning Town and this is more common

than most folk would like to think. Back in those days credit cards that had been sent out were

a common target as they were easy to recognise and even easier to pocket and best of all I was

told they usually had a good week before they were deemed missing and were stopped. It was a poxy

place to work, the full time staff were not happy there were agency guys there, Apparently, we were

"nicking their overtime"  because in typical union led style they were working at half speed in order

to generate said overtime. So they were in effect thieving from their employer as well. A right bunch of

ne'er do wells if I ever saw some. But that's what "working" under union protection seems to generate

in my experience, a sense of entitlement akin to benefit scroungers. Couldn't wait until the agency

moved me to a firm with proper workers.

All that "not my job" and “not in my contract" crap does my head in.

In my experience service from the royal mail has definitely got worse since privatisation. I've had three special delivery items go missing or late this year and two of them were from the Royal Mail!

I've never sent anything recorded delivery to the DVLA, and never had a problem. if everybody did send recorded delivery then someone would be signing paperwork for their full time job.

Chances are its been delivered, just not signed as not all organisations are required to do so as it would not be cost effective to so.

Allow the required amount of time for the returned V5 to turn up, if it does not then chase with the DVLA. You have proof of postage so a replacement for lost in the post should be free.

The amended V5 could take 4-6 weeks, so no point in chasing yet.

These days at the DVLA like at HMRC the Mail can be opened Externally by a Processing Centre, DHL or the likes.

then Batched and Delivered to the Relevant Sections, Building etc.

Inputed onto the Computer, basic requirements like Forms Sent out.

The 3 week opening time is about 10 days behind at present.

A huge operation, millions of letters and packages arriving  and yes people are Full Time accepting Registered Mail.

Kind of Important when you are sending in your Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate etc.

Your Heart does sink when they tell you it is lost, not there, not arrived within the 30 Days since your Online Application and it is no longer live.

Lynn in Section 18,

'Please reapply on line and start a new application'.

Me,

"But you have lost my Birth Certificate, & my old licence, how can i?"

Lynn in Section 18,

'Sorry we have no record of that, please start a new application online.'

+1 My last log book sent in recorded as they used to be signed for (in bulk) and you could prove it arrived and was traceable to their mail room. Last time I checked online and still showing as being processed and still with Royal Mail 3 weeks later I called DVLA and was told my new log book had been sent out the previous day and 2 hours later it landed on my door step. The guy said it's normal and they don't sign for them at all. Complaint to Royal Mail for not doing what I paid them extra for!

Can take a few hours or even days to update various databases or systems. Sometimes they still do the processing in the wee small hours to save on electricity or someone else is doing it so they have to wait their turn on the server farm.
