Are these pics from when you had the JOMS on?

Also, when you had the JOMs fitted, what was it like driving over speed bumps? did you scrape the underneath of the car a lot?

Aha thanks jay :) those last two photos you quoted are running the aps, I was running the joms in all the other photos. The front little mud flaps and part of the front bumper are the only parts that I've ever scraped, oh and the chassis rail if you park on a kerb and get it wrong :D

Cool thanks mate. Sits very nicely on those coils btw!

She's currently been sorn ready to have the turbo taken off and rebuilt as the last time I looke (last year) the impeller had some slight pitting.

The turbo was taken off today, I was absolutely convinced the last time I took my air feed to the cold side and was looking at the impeller through the camera it was damaged, but after taking it off and giving it a once over its spot on! No damage and no play! Happy days :) so it's now back together waiting to be taxed :)

Right here goes! I haven't really done anything to the old girl for a while just got in her to go out on the weekend until this Saturday! I intended to get my exhaust off and see what I could get made up as I run the miltek down pipe and some may no it's not a true 2.5" straight off the turbo.. And I want it to be so I set of about trying to change this until I got stuck and gave up as exhaust aren't my strong point lol I actually hate doing them :D but atleast I tried..

Anyway I need a new downpipe now so I'm in contact with Xman as he sells true 2.5 downpips so I will be investing in one.. I then thought (always a bad idea) well if the cars off the road till next weekend earliest I may aswell pull the gear box out as it's been leaking and I've been endlessly putting it off.. So I did :)

Sunday morning I started just before half 8 and it was going so well by 11 everything was loose and I just had the box to monuver out! Easier said than done! Nearly an hour (on my own) it took me to wiggle the box out! The relief when it was out though lol I didn't drop the subframe or take the driveshaft out I just released the lower ball joint :)

Turns out I also do need a new clutch sooner rather than later! I always intended to replace the clutch regardless tho as the box was out be silly not too.

Once that was all done I turned to splitting the box.. I did drop the oil out the box first before anyone asks first job I done :) after getting the sensor out which the previous owner had managed to round off I got the tower out and started to undo the casing bolts, but when it came to undoing one of the bolts( the bottom one where I assumed it was leaking from due to it being scuffed not by me tho) I didn't even get to undo it the bolt just fell out! So my theory I'm hoping is correct! That's what's causing it to leak!

Here's it split I just got jealous of Alex's that's all I've done this for really :D and also the snapped bolt...

I managed to drill it out luckily!

So now on Monday off to skoda for a new sensor and new bolts and some sealant :)

Just a random pic..I like it without the bumper

Good effort getting the box off the car without taking the lump out! Not something I'd ever contemplate without a ramp after I felt the weight of it!!

I'd recommend an Xman clutch after what Kev's felt like. Mega light! There's one going on mine when it's reassembled.

I really really didn't wanna do it and kept putting it off but it was suprisingly straight forward just awkward when it was ready to come out! I managed to lower it down on the jack in the end :) I am kinda dreading putting it back in!

I'm very tempted by one of those!

Some more pics of the casing and how worn it is, I will be putting some chemical metal on there although there is no cracks just to be certain.

Bolts have been ordered from skoda for the casing and should be in tomorrow I have sealant at the ready and my new downpipe just arrived from Xman! All for me to cut up :D

Oh and a new clutch should be here by the weekend :)

Whats the xman downpipe fit if your cutting it up?

Pd130, I'm just gunna cut the flange off, he said he could get me 1756 one made up but I'd have to wait and couldn't give me a date when, I want it back on the road already :D

Not much has gone on this week just been waiting on skoda to get the right parts in, I only needed two bolts for the gearbox casing but apparently the new bolts I now have that they supplied were from a octavias gearbox.. And they cost £4.50 each! But I got 3 just incase lol

6DC073E2-A92D-4C83-BC6C-BE5C243336DA_zps

Oh and I got a new badge although I'm pretty sure it's the wrong one :D

But this evening I managed to get the gearbox resealed and back together using the new bolts :)

I did give the casings a good thorough clean with the air hose just to be sure

I do have a new clutch I just opted to get a new clutch cover and drive plate, I'm picking up the new slave cylinder tomorrow ready for the box to go back in! Seems like ages since I've drove her and Its only been a week lol

Here's my nice new down pipe too :)

well the car is back together.. It was Saturday Tbf it was all going so well the clutch went followed by the box all in reasonably good time as well until the test drive where disaster hit! My power steering had stopped working, I was so annoyed and disappointed but on a lighter not the clutch works and the car drives so i done something right I guess.

Anyway after a day of of testing all the wiring to the pump ect checking all the earths and hydraulic pipes it turns out the only thing left it can be is a bent steering rack, with conformation from George on here as his done the same thing after a box change I bought a new rack last night from a local lad with all the wiring and pipe work. I really hope this fixes it as I was on the verge of getting rid.

Oh and I also modified my downpipe to fit the gtb so now it's a true 2.5" :)

Just need to do abit of dremeling to make the weld smoother. Size difference off the turbo is quite a lot!
