Retrofit Amundsen?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Forgive me for posting this again but wanted to get you thoughts on this.

My project dream vRS might have to be put on hold due to some large and rather unexpected financial complications.

No big deal I guess as I already have one but the thing I really want to sort if possible is the lack of Sat Nav.

Now, I know what you're thinking, idiot, pootle off down to Halfords, slip them a ton and a half and job done, cheeky little Sat Nav in your pocket.

This is indeed true but I really don't like accessories like that, I prefer to have the proper item installed and plumbed in properly.

More money than sense? Probably, but it's one of those things I'm afraid.

So, can it be done? Can you get it retrofitted by a dealer and working properly? I accept it won't be cheap but I seem to recall someone mentioning complications with Skoda in the Czech Republic when trying to get this done?

Any guidance would be gratefully received before I go and have a chat with my stealer.

Forget it would me my advice.

I am not aware of anyone who has managed to go from Bolero to a Sat nav. There is component protection and licensing (SWaP code) to get around. The component protection is fairly easy, but getting the car to accept a Sat nav can only be done by the factory at the moment. There doesn't seem to be a coherent retrofit policy in place yet.
