Glove box light

Featured Replies

Has anybody else had the same problem with changing the light in the glovebox. When i got my Octavia the light was dangling down in around the passenger side.

I sourced a replacement but on trying to fit the whole unit (the lens, bulb and switch) I cannot get it into the hole.

Haynes manual gives the impression that it can be pulled out, bulb replaced and "procedure is the reverse".

No amount of wiggling seems to work.

Suggestions please

It's a glove box out job I say mate I'm getting an led bulb for mine and the only way is with the glove box out by the looks of it

Can do it without taking the glovebox out but is a fiddle. Took me about 10 minutes.

where as removing the glovebox (5 torx screws) takes less than a minute!!

10 minutes minus a torx !!

Think I will just take the glove box out as I have my battery gun and the correct torx bit so takes less than 30 seconds to pop the glove box off

Now time to buy the led

If you don't want to have to do this whole job again in the near future, I'd personally (and this is just my opinion) steer clear from an LED replacement and just fit another normal bulb.

My experience with trying to use LED's for interior lights, number plate lights, front sidelights and high-level brake lights is that they are all mostly total crap, and last no more than five minutes, whatever brand I buy.

I've gone back to normal bulbs everywhere now. Much better!
