Reverse problem on display

Featured Replies

Hello all I now have problem when reversing. When I select reverse I get the bleep and display comes up but as soon as i dip the clutch the display goes off until I release the clutch it bleeps again snd shows the display.. Anybody know the problem?

I've not had that problem but my display works OK unless I've used the radio or the Media player then the display doesn't show anything.

If I switch the engine off and start up again without any music playing then the reversing display works again. I assumed it was just a 'feature'.

My 2008 Scout reverse display works no matter what. Put it in reverse and the display acknowledges the event.

My display works with clutch fully out but if I dip clutch back in it goes off even though it's still in reverse I have to dip the clutch again for it to bleep and show display

Yet my car seems to be controlled by the action of putting the gear stick in the reverse position.

  • As soon as the reverse gear is selected, an audible "beep" can be heard and display shows a car outline with the state of the parking sensors (proximity dependent).
  • The display remains like this until the reverse gear is de-selected.
  • Repeatedly selecting/de-selecting reverse repeats the process exactly as described above.

Basically, the clutch doesnt seem to be the controlling factor on my car for the reverse display (unscientific test I know).

That is how it normally was but mine now seems to be workin from the clutch being pressed and depressed.

ISTR that the park control module uses the signal from the reversing lights.

Fist step would be to check that the top of the clutch pedal isn't fouling any of the wiring loom.

Sorry to hijack, but Mine has Columbus fitted and not sure if it was factory option or retrofit, my display has never appeared since I've had the car.

Does anyone know if it can be activated on a pre-FL vRS? I have VCDS if someone could point me in the right direction would be appreciated

Ok thanks for that! I will look into the module upgrade and see what I can do :-)

Right not actually managed to check wires yet but now found out my reverse lights are not working either if my display is not showing. It's gone worse than before and hardly ever works now.

That sounds like it could be the actual switch that sends the signal to tell the car it is in reverse as opposed to the module or headunit.

Would that be the switch on the gearbox ?

I believe so, but don't quote me on that.
