Service reminder not showing- how to sort it out?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks.

So in between having my last service and now I have had a maxidot fitted with the help of Eddie-NL.

I was thinking it was strange that I haven't seen the service reminder pop-up as I was sure it was due by now.

I rang the dealer who did it as they hadn't written it in the book. So it turns out I'm over due by about 200 miles!

Something must be up with the service reminder.

Where do I look to sort this. I know it's in the instruments but no idea how to check when it's set to remind me or how I would reset it after doing the service next weekend if the reminder isn't showing?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Phil

It may have been incorrectly set last time or fitting the maxidot screwed it up?

There's a warning re unauthorised use in the manual IIRC.

Yeah I'm wondering if it's switched to variable or not had the mileage till service set correctly with the maxidot.

And what do you mean by unauthorised use?

Will give Eddie a pm to see.if he can shed any light in how to fix it.

Just have it serviced and get it reset to how you want it. Probably just a coding glitch transferring the service reminder.

If it is due - have it serviced and then reset to variable or fixed depending on your requirements.

That's the thing... How do I do that as I thought it had to be prompting for a service to reset the reminder?

Or there must be some VCDS trickery to do it? Is it as simple as ticking/unticking a box for fixed/variable servicing?

Many thanks.

P.S. I'm doing the service myself next weekend.

You can do the service reset with VCDS even without it prompting.

VCDS is the way to go - you can even override the blocks if you want (for example) it to remind you that you prefer a service every 5000 miles.

Right. That's the bit i was unsure about.

Will do a search about how to switch to variable and reset it then.

That's cool... Although I think I'll stick with 10,000 mile intervals!

So I think I've done it... had a bit of a fiddle with VCDS and using some threads with the suggestion of altering the oil quality setting.

I changed the oil quality to a 1 (or maybe to 0- whichever I did I just changed it from what it was to what it described it should be for fixed) and it now says "Service Now!" when I turn the ignition on.

So I think it's set to fixed servicing now and then hopefully when I reset the reminder it will reset to fixed and remind me again in 365 days or 10,000 miles.
