Battery + Glow plugs and still problems?

Featured Replies

I've replaced my 07 diesel Vrs battery about 6 weeks ago as it was knackered and needed a change.

Over the last few days my car has struggled to start in the morning..I turn on the ignition wait for the glow plug light to go out then I turn her over and normally it will ignite/start straight away but now I have to hold it on for about 6-8 seconds then it'll start.

I thought glow plugs were knackered, so I had them replaced ( all 4 ) and I stil have the problem. It's only first thing then it starts fine all day.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Just chucking this in the air but when was the fuel filter last changed

On my last full service 123,00 miles now on 126,000 was about 4 months ago.

Has the temperature sensor been changed lately. They are known to give problems including the one you describe.

Never been changed.

Is there anyway to check its knackered?

Which temp sensor? The one for the engine?

When I next go to my Indy I'll mention the temp sensor.

I have had the injector re call and the above topic is slightly different to my actual problem.

My car only struggles to start first thing, even if it's middle of the day. I have to hold the key for a lot longer than usual but the moment it starts/fires it's fine. Not sluggish or anything.

Just that initial start. I'm really stuck :/

Done battery

Done glow plugs

Is the starter motor a likely cause if the temp sensor comes to no joy.

Check earths and battery connections?

Clean, tight and vaseline'd?

Costs nowt.

The temp sensor can be checked with VCDS, if failed it may be showing the car is warm thus making it hard to start.
