Plugs, R-SR's, Eibach lowering springs and HowFast?

Featured Replies

When the late 2012 engines changed to CTHE, there were a few still failed and required replacement.

Even though there was a New Engine Management, ECU / Software.

Then in 2013 the Seat Ibiza Cupra 2013 CTHE was released with the new Engine Management / ECU -Software.

There might just have been a further tweaking of the 'Engine Management',

on the CTHE fitted to the vRS CTHE from mid 2013 on,

due to the still failing earliest CTHE in the first few months of production.

ie

An early CTHE from the factory being slightly differently mapped from a later CTHE.

Cheers, George, makes sense that!

you can turn it off completely, at least on the later cars,  ( the options on my 2013 car are different to the optopns on the 2010 car!) on the 2010, you had something like 1,2 and 3 to choose from... on mine it has "off" "low" "medium" "strong" or something along those lines!

Yep that's one more option on your car than I could see on mine over VCDS I could only select the weakest setting but not off.

There is the 'fact' that a Standard vRS Hatch is lighter than the Bigger vRS Estate,

no matter that Skoda keep publishing official weights of the Estate being 5kg lighter unladen.

So the Ballast weights & spare wheel can come out of the Hatch & the Spare out of the Estate.

The Hatch becomes even lighter than the Estate.

& once you have tweak the Suspension on a Hatch and an Estate, the estates possible traction benefit over the Shorter / Lighter hatch is gone.

(even when still Sandbagged but with different Springs, dampers, ARB fitted,

but now just balanced without 25 kg on the rear nearside.)

It is worth comparing the 'Real life weight' of a Hatch vs Estate at the next Track Day.

Actual Corner weight on each vehicle as being driven would be good to see.

Bossfox has a set, we need to ask him nicely :)

Less weight does mean the brakes can be working less hard to reduce speed,

and because of that generate less heat.

I am interested because Skoda seem to think it is worth mentioning how an All New 3rd Generation Fabia (Euro 6 Emission) can be on average

60KG lighter,  about 5 % or more lighter.

But they never explained why they sandbagged the All New 2nd Generation MK2 vRS (Euro 5) by 25kg rather than fit balanced suspension and simple things like move the Battery to the boot like on the Polo.

And the miracle of make the rear half of a vehicle like the vRS Estate 247 mm longer,

made up of more metal, glass and plastic, but it was still lighter on paper than the shorter vehicle.

'Success Balance' in the BTCC is between 9-45 kg,

but Skoda (VW) are happy to add 25 kg of useless and pointless weight to a Warm Hatches rear crash bar rather than do some
