  • Yup. Moon white on phoenix wheels for me.

  • I was in Geneva today, in that overcrowded hothouse. Deeply impressed with the Superb, which appeared in L&K and 'Style' versions, all 4x4s. None of them had rear window wipers. Our touring car is

LS108, you beat me too this, I was about to post similar links. Good on you.

Why wouldn't it come with all the new engines? The Octavia got the vast majority of new engines from the Golf Mk 7 (bar the super powerful ones ehich it doesn't need) so it would be in Skoda's interest for VW to hand over all the Passat's new puffers Skoda ask for. Maybe, minus the extra special bi Turbo one.... for a while (year tops) at least.

Also, being that the Superb is a popular car for pulling caravans, to withhold the Bi-Turbo 230bhp engine would not be sensible at all. Maybe VW will permit all engines in the Passat to be used after all, otherwise they will be handicapping the Superb against the new Mondeo (which I have also been admiring) and others. I think the Superb would still get my vote as my last two were fabulous.

I do know that when it goes on sale, I will have an estate with either a 150, 181 or 190bhp Diesel under the bonnet. I want the 230bhp bi turbo, however cost will be a factor and as it will be a family motor, excitable driving will not be done often! 181 or 190bhp will do just fine! And, if it comes anywhere near as well specced out of the box as the new Passat, I will be a very happy man. SE --> GT are very well tooled up and I doubt i would spec many other extras.

One thing I am worried about is if it comes specced as standard with run-flats as the new Passat does. I know its for weight saving and economy but it would upset me plenty. It can be fixed though, more £££ required and that doesnt grow on trees where I come from.

Engine wise, I'd be more interested in getting more powerful diesels in cloth upholstery / basic trim.  VW offers 190bhp only in GT trim Passat (with leather upholstery), hopefully Skoda will accept that some/quite a few private buyers prefer decent cloth/velour to rather average quality leather (judging from a number of upholstery wear related posts in Mk2 Superb forum).  Mk1 Superb was available with range topping 2.5V6 diesel and velour seats (Comfort trim) which made for perfect long distance cruiser (especially with Rough Road Package), and after 8 years the velour is still in great shape.

Hopefully, Mk3 will be at least offering 190bhp diesel in cloth/velour trim.

The 240bhp diesel, while very attractive, is likely to be only available with 4 wheel drive and automatic gearbox, so less enticing if you plan on keeping the car till it dies.

We'll see in 6 months, anyway

My thinking is based on the fact that before Superb was deliberately kept away from direct competition with Passat - i.e. they were putting older generation engines to Superb and also made some options not available. However now the message is that Superb will get more sporty design and the same engines as Passat and will be cheaper. So...why to buy Passat after all :D However this new Passat now is marketed as 'premium' brand, so maybe that's the VAG strategy trick :)

Still I would bet, that they won't put bi-turbo diesel to Skoda, and won't put some options Passat has (adaptive suspension for example). But we will see. I any case 190 Hp / 400 Nm diesel also will be very nice, I hope it will be available with Haldex5 AWD system as well.

And about Mondeo - I've red some recent reviews of European model. Mixed feelings. It seems that interior is lower quality as expected, they changed steering system to electric and size wise it is not that big as it seems from outside. Will go to testdrive it when it will be available here.

Looking at the new Passat and the fact that my Superb is due for renewal in approx. 12 months time, I can see me jumping across to VW - the GT does look similarly spec'd against my Superb SE. Either the 2L 150 or 190 in DSG trim would suit me nicely.

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/skoda/87876/skoda-superb-2016-to-get-plug-in-hybrid-tech

I'm interested in this. The Superb is to be Skodas first plug in hybrid. If it has the same performance as the Golf GTE IMHO it will be a winner. As long as they dont overprice it! I

Auto Express then had a later article that said we won't see plug in hybrid in a Skoda till 2018 :(

It's a shame because I am due to replace my Mk II Superb in about 12 months and at the moment I really want a plug in hybrid so will probably end up with the VW Passat.

Does anybody know if Audi will get the plug in hybrid tech? I really like the look of the A7, but I think the early shots of the Mk III Superb look a lot like the A7.

I'd love the bi tdi one then have a stage one remap

These mock ups look promising. .. e2e9ec9a6141136a4a519a2b2e0874d8.jpg53b0a107405c673c3c79828ecfdc89ee.jpg

I won't take them seriously, because the car is so nice, that nobody will buy new Passat :D

They Look far too good to be true. We wont be that fortunate surely. Passat Or Superb, on this evidance the VAG Bosses are'nt going to be best pleased with Skoda.

I just hope that the Superb Combi comes out in time for when my current is due (November). Although the new Passat does look quite attractive.

Saloon looks like a CC to me.

There are lots of photos around the net but the 'CC look' appears to be common to most so I'm assuming they are going down that route.  I do like it and especially the higher door frames although it would be interesting to see how they can maintain head height.

Very impressive... the new A4 will have a fight on its hands if they go for something that sharp! Still I agree currently the new Passat seems a great choice and much better than the current Superb.. but hopefully the new Superb will take the laurels! And on this evidence...

One thing is looks, another is technology. There are rumours that Superb III will get the same engines as Passat and that is the issue which I do not believe the most :-)

But soon we will find out. Probably more info will "leak" before the autoshow.

I'm sure we'll see spy shots this side of Christmas

Wow thats a real step in the right direction!! : )

It'll still need to be classier than the Passat because the Czech president will have one!

Now I really like that! Looks realistic enough too as opposed to some of the earlier concept type images

What is the source of these designs? They are quite MQB on profile and too good to be a photoshop.

They look really nice especially the estate. They should sell better than the new pass at I imagine
