312mm Brake disc recommendations

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've ordered the carriers to upgrade the Yeti Greenline's brakes to 312mm so it's time to order the discs. If I'm staying completly OEM I was guessing Pagid would be the way to go, but before ordering I wondered if anyone had any other recommendations of discs/pads they have used?

It's mainly road / fast road use, if I do have any track fun I'll swop the pads over. So what's the verdict, stick OEM, or Brembo discs, EBC etc?

Thanks in advance :)

For road use I doubt disc choice will make much difference.

My preference is the Brembos, but I doubt you'll get the beneffit of the extra financial outlay.

Pagid are coming in at about £60 a pair and Brembos can be had for £77, so if there's not much difference the Brembos are looking like a winner:

I thought they had grooves, must have been thinking of different ones.

Like I said, in use I doubt you'll find any real difference.

Just make sure you get the 25mm not the cheaper thinner ones that Pagid do (think they are 21mm).

I bought the OEM brembo discs for my 312mm upgrade on my mk2 octavia and when paired with the Tarox strada pads they were awesome, I never did any track days but on the road with a caravan or unbraked trailer the braking power never faded.

You can get away with standard discs, the pagid discs will be more than enough.

Its the choice of pads that make the real difference

With OEM 312mm discs (original Yeti 170 set up) I didn't get any fade on a 12 minute Combe track session surprisingly!

We're you on standard pads too Richard? I'm decided that OEM is the way to go, the pads only have 10,000 miles on them so I'll leave changing them as its on a maintanence plan anyway.

First time out, yes.  They were fine.

I then upgraded to DS2500 for more bite.
