Skoda Insurance

Featured Replies

I called by dealer this morning to sort my 7 days complimentary insurance. The dealer had previously advised that I needed to take this 7 days free insurance before they could finalise the vehicle collection date.

I see now why this was.

Once I'd sorted the 7 day insurance the adviser went straight on to arranging a quote for me to have my years insurance with Skoda.

I wouldn't mind... they did undercut the RAC by a little who I had a quote saved with.

But if I take the Skoda insurance there will be no Baby Safari Oleg, lol.

What do you guys think of Skoda insurance? Any thoughts?

Expensive. I almost went for it as the phone quote seemed pretty reasonable, cancelled when the paperwork came through & realised my 10 years no claims not protected & an excess of £700.

I took it for the first year, not a bad deal. I soon found that it was best to shop around, I got it added to my other cars policy at a substantial saving.

I took out there insurance but not on the Citigo but on the Rapid. It was a great deal and they undercut everyone plus gave me more discount on top. Just a £100 excess too [emoji106]

They wouldn't insure the Citigo as I wanted my wife on there and she's only got a provisional license as she's learning to drive.

RAC have offered £269 with Safari Oleg.

Skoda... £247 without Safari Oleg.

Tough choice

Ebay might have a Safari Oleg

My quote was four times more than LV! As an old geezer with a full no claims record I was disgusted. I thought they would welcome Skoda owners, nope.

skoda insurance undercut my normal insurance on the first year and unlike my best quote at the time said if cost of repair was more than 60 or 70% of value of car would replace with new and all repairs using genuine skoda parts

took it on year one, then renewal price went sky high so switched (now with admiral - with oleg toy :) )

they seem to have a very narrow range of people they will give  good price for, if you are part of that range cover is not bad, if your are not it is stupid pricing

Just to add to my post above I also wanted to add my other car when that was up for renewal, they did ask me when I originally took out insuramce with them, any second cars. Trouble is they refused as at the time it was an imported Mazda.

I also got a quote from Allianz come renewal time, that worked out cheaper than Skoda insurance, which is  through Allianz

I've got a nice person ringing me up next week to give me a quote, they can't quote if over a month before expiry date. If they don't at least match my expected renewal price and throw in some free NEC tickets, clue (they sponsor a car show) I'm back to banging on the keyboard again for some more quotes.

I have Skoda Insurance. It was cheaper than previous and hasn't gone up at renewals - it has gone down slightly. You don't need to contact them when you go abroad (no extra paperwork or green card required) and when I changed my car and address they didn't charge for new papers. You do get a replacement car in the first year, as mentioned above, and I am guessing the assessor will be there where the car is repaired so no third parties to deal with. I have protected no claims and £100 excess. They have also replaced the windscreen 2 years in a row (no charge). All in all, you get what you pay for (read the small print) but it seems a good service and cheaper than RAC for me.

Just got our Citigo renewal from Direct line for £325 for two 50+, a 23 and 20 year old. Fully comp including protected NCD (for the Missus as named driver). Courtesy car. I will go on line and see how much cheaper i can get instead of renewing automatically. Maybe under £300?

I have been with them since a little bump as the service I got was very good.

NEVER ever auto renew. You will never get decent prices compared to new quotes.

have to say, just had another person hit my car yesterday. Rang the RAC, and its already in for repair and driving around in a rental. Very efficient. worth an extra few quid over the cheapest quotes.

  • 3 weeks later...

Got the car back , one tiny hole in the bumper - and the claim was over £1000 ! £200+ for a new bumper £250+ for new paint, then bumper hangers, labour and VAT...

The RAC insurance has been fanatical. calls from every which way, letters galore and even a nice text to say the 3rd party had admitted responsibilty.

very efficient and a very fast turn around.

Well got the insurance renewed for £274 for two 50+, a 23 and 21 year old

Be aware that some insurers load premiums on renewal "because of increased risk"! This happened to me when I tried to add my wife on my car insurance so that she could drive both. When I queried why the increase when her insurers had agreed that the third h party had admitted liability this was the reply I was given
