My alarm is going off and I don't know how to stop it

Good job there's no siren attached (yet)

Basically whenever I open the car either using the passenger side door lock, OR open the drivers side, and then open the bonnet, the hazards start flashing for 30 seconds. :D

I'm sure this is the "alarm" but the remote on the key does sweet F.A! :grumpy: I think this has been covered before and I need the up to date central locking "ecu" that sits down next to the clutch.

Weird though. :) Doors still open and lock on the key, although it takes two flicks from passenger side, one from drivers side to open everything. Yet, the bonnet always triggers the alarm. I don't get it to be honest because the bonnet alarm wire isn't even plugged into anything!

Thats more than likely the problem, open circuit on the bonnet wire.

How does it (or the car) sense the bonnet is being opened though? It doesn't trigger until I gently pull out the noggin and start to lift. This wire is tucked away neatly down by the water reservoir. Reckon I'll bite the bullet and ask for the device that sits on the slam panel on the vRS. Another "bit" for the list.

Also I wouldnt expect it to work properly without the siren anyhow, as its moe than just a sounder. No point trying to diagnose problems on a system thats only half built.

Obvious question then is the thing which makes the alarm system all operate / alarm and disarm, all contained in this remote locking box of tricks? No hang on, can't be right as it wouldn't do anything. Must be a control box somewhere in the panel I guess, as I got the whole complete rack of control boxes/fuses with the interior loom.

Guess the locking ecu is throwing it all to ****.

With your car J I dont know, it seems to be missing so many parts I dont know where to start.

On the vRS the remote signal is recieved by the CDL control unit. The signal then goes to the window motor and then onto the door catch.

Its a direct action when operated by the key but the signal goes from the catch to the motor and then onto the CDL unit to open the other doors.

I need this CDL then for sure. Cheers. :)

I think the easiest way for me to think about it is if its tempromental and its original, CHANGE IT! ;)

By chance do you get the same "why didn't he just get a whole car to strip out?" feeling.... Hindsight is wonderful. :o

Could this be a hint of regret J?

Nah, just a hidden acceptance it would have been easier and quicker to have had a wrecked vRS in the first place instead of relying on breakers and the post.

Sorry J - misread your post. :o

You're right though, would have been a darn site easier!

Keep plodding on mate, nearly there eh.

It would have been easier (and cheaper) for you to buy a 2nd hand vRS and put TDI bumpers and interior in it!
