DVD decrypting

Featured Replies

I want to decrypt a DVD to my hard drive so I can watch it on a laptop with no DVD player, I have DVD decrypter but this don't work anymore as I believe the protection has changed and DVD decrypter is no longer supported. Anyone know of any other software that will do the job ?

any dvd usually works for me :)

I have the latter version of DVD Decryptor at home, and it still seems to rip the latest titles.

It will be difficult for them to just change the encyption otherwise some older DVD players will be unable to play the film.

I use DVDShrink - seems to do the job, although I have heard that one of the studios (Sony I think) is using a new encryption method.

Mannyo, isn't the key on the disk so all the DVD player does is read the key on the disk

DVD decrypter is working just fine on everything I've tried

Thats right - its called archos protection and the discs are red in colour. For these you need the very last version of dvd decrypt, you will need to decrypt the whole disc (so need about 9GB free of HDD) to an ISO file, then use DVD shrink to remove the titles, menus etc so you're just left with the movie

Ivan - see if you can find a mirror site with the last version of dvddecrypt on it and just decrypt to an iso then use deamon tools to mount the iso so you can play it on the laptop...

Chavyboy, Try starting a DVD player app like powerdvd or something and leave it on stop in the background, iirc older decrypting and ripping software needed this for some reason

ANYDVD worked for me, you just load it up and pop the dvd in and burn it in nero or whatever

downloadable free trial as well so might as well give it a go

What's the last version of DVD Decrypter? I have 3.2.3.0 :(
