Oil filter socket size ?

Featured Replies

The garage that did the service last year has put the oil filter "lid" on so tight I cant shift it with an a footprint wrench -

What size socket do I need to get - ( mark 1 VRS SE )

thanks

Probably a 32mm with it being an SE.

The earlier ones needed a 36mm socket.

Mines a 36mm socket (53 reg VRS)

I think it's 32mm.

Cold also be 36mm as I think they did both.

I bought a 32mm to do my Cordoba PD130 ASZ and that also fits my current Octavia PD105.

Easy solution: Get a tape measure & measure across the flats. If its 36mm you need a 36mm socket, if its 32mm then you need a 32mm socket.

Simples.

Simple if you have the car to hand - I haven't cos it's 30 miles away on my ramp with no oil in it and I'm at work -

thanks to the guys giving me some sizes , now I can buy a 32 and 36 on the way home do the job and return the unused one for a refund.

There's something you will only do once!

Whenever you are changing any fluids on the car make sure the filler cap/bolt/plug can be removed/is accessible before draining the fluid. :D
