My Octavia vRS Estate - 2.0 TSI

Featured Replies

As I have now decided to keep my car 100%, I thought it was a good time to start a thread detailing all the plans etc.

A bit of history, I have a bit of a reputation with cars and getting bored quite quickly.

On the 8th of December 2012 I went to pick up my new to me, ex managers Octavia vRS CR170 hatch in race blue;

I liked the car, enjoyed it but as I couldn't buy a new one with the options I wanted in the first place (production had stopped) I kept looking for something else. Finally came across an ad on here by a fellow Briskoda member selling their 2011 Octavia vRS DSG Estate 2.0 TSI with quite a few toys (everything I wanted and more) and only 36k on the clock. Unfortunately I couldn't buy at the time but then saw the car was up for sale at a Skoda garage in Swansea and straight away "upgraded" my old vRS for the new one - picked her up on the 8th of December 2013;

So fast forward 10 and a bit months and she now has 53k miles on the clock and still running as strong as ever.

So here is a list of the full list of toys;

  • Front & rear parking sensors
  • Columbus
  • Curtain airbags
  • Spare wheel kit
  • Heated front & rear seats
  • Maxi-dot
  • Silver roof rails
  • Sunset glass
  • Black ‘vRS’ leather seats
  • Bluetooth
  • Multi-function steering wheel
  • Auto mirror, rain and lights
  • Xenons

I did put her up for sale a while ago but it just didn't feel right, first car I have owned that I enjoy driving as much as I do and have no intentions of selling now. I do have some plans and will update further as time goes on :)

Will fit the badges this weekend (hopefully).

Fitted some red top coil packs today to get rid of the little misfire present every now and then :)

Also paid a deposit to the Shark boys as well so will have a few fun things done early in January! :D

Just got home after visiting Ed (Eddie-NL) to get a few bits done on the car today.

Set off early this morning, a little bit of rain - got to Ed's - lots of rain! Felt really sorry for him but he insisted the work carries on and done everything I asked for!

So today I had fitted and coded: auto dimming side mirrors, puddle lights, and a new bluetooth wifi module.

Everything works as expected and Ed really knows his stuff, really impressed and got more ideas from his car :D

Thanks very much :)

Nice Car AJ, really like the Xenons and silver roof rails

Car in for a service today @56k miles. Slight misfire still present on start up after changing the coil pack so asked them to look into that as well.

So will see what they find and hopefully resolve it.
Got a fastest car in the world today in the shape of a Fabia SE 1.6 TDI Estate :D

Early January will be getting the chain tensioner replaced and also a few bits done/added. Planned it so the service would be first before anything else.

Next important job would be the brakes. Advice - is it better to post in MK2 Octavia section or here asking questions?

Misfire caused by spark plugs - changed in the service anyway and now perfect :D

Couple of small changes for the new year. Fitted some new LED bulbs to the puddle lights, much better but photo's doesn't do it any justice.

I have also fitted these bulbs for the number plate lights which are supposed to be canbus friendly but still getting the check number plate light error. Has anyone else fitted these and not had an error?

Cracking motor. Mine is a hatchback. Was thinking of changing cars myself but got it remapped last month and it really is a monster now. I like the look of the new badges.

Mate what a peach of a wagon. I spotted this when you had it up for sale last and it was either buy it or my house. The house came first of course, but if ever you sell this, please pm me. Awesome car with an awesome spec to match!

Who did your map mate? And did you have DSG done at the same time?

Update on my car;

Been up to Shark today for the 2nd time in a couple of weeks. First time was for them to replace the chain tensioner and do both an engine and DSG box remap in one day. Unfortunately we ran out of time on the day to do full testing as some of the tensioner parts wasn't delivered until 5pm and ran into a few small issues with gear changes on the way home. I arranged to go back up today to work through these with Ben and am really happy with the end result :D Gear changes are now smooth as anything but lightning quick. Also changed some of the parameters of "D" so it stays in certain gears for longer.

I'll load up a copy of the graph when I get a second but made 246bhp and 401Nm on rollers.

From setting off this morning to getting home tonight including going on the rolling road and "testing" quite a lot I got 32mpg which is a great improvement over the 25 I usually get.

Revo. Apologies for the late reply. I live near Cambridge. Quattro Tech in St Ives near Huntingdon. Great service. I didn't get the DSG done. Am looking to swap for a new one within the next 6 months so sadly won't be adding to the stage one.

Looks like you have had a great result from the Shark map.

Not updated this for a while so thought it's about time. Car is going brilliantly still, puts a smile on my face ever day :D

I have tried the pedalbox but it's a bit too much for me and the car so took it off after a while.

Latest change was yesterday where me and a few friends set on the brakes as I wasn't happy with them and didn't think they were up to the job after the remap. I bought a front and rear set of calipers from a 2006 Golf R32 to upgrade the fronts to 345mm and the rears to 310mm vented. It was a massive job in the end and took all day but they're in and working brilliantly. I will be painting them red but have a track day tomorrow at Brands so wanted them in, working and bed in before that - priorities and all that  :notme:

Will put some more info later on when I'm home of what was needed etc as I went in a bit blind and found unexpected issues along the way.

While doing the job found a leaky rear shock so replaced both the rears at the same time.

Excuse the filthy state of her  :peek: but here are some pics;
