Clarity (from the GB)

Featured Replies

Hi

Question for those who know about the Clarity product that we have received in the recent group buy;

Obviously we have a small quantity as part of the GB, is this enough to do a full car?

If not I assume people are using it on a panel or two (to test) or on their wheels?

Regards.

Andy

Yes Andy

Perhaps even two or three

Its very economical and spreads easily

Light spray on a MF application pad and it will be enough for one wing or half a bonnet

Buff immediately with a dry MF cloth

Wowsa, so quick!

Thanks Chris.

Might give it a whirl tomorrow.

Assume i will need to remove my Collinite?

Thanks

Andy

Yes

The paint surface must be totally cleaned of ALL products

Have you got anything to do that?

Exactly this, the full retail size is after all only 150ml.

I would expect from 50ml you should get 4 coats on a mid size car if careful, and at 3-6 months durability depending on conditions and paint prep 50ml should go a long way :)

Microfibre pad is good for getting an even coat, I use a dense foam applicator as it soaks up less and so is more economical, both are good options and it will come down to preference.

You can buff straight away but I have tested Clarity leaving up to 10 minutes per panel and it still removes well with a buffing towel.

Thanks Sparkly.

Chris - I have some IPA on order, so will hang on and perhaps do it in the new year.

I know there has been some posts on dilution rates of IPA so I will have a browse around.

I use 50:50, but have read that higher dilution also works

However, I havent used it for a while

I prefer this:

CarPro Eraser..Does the same job, but ready to use as it is

Another vote for Eraser, also Envy Car Care Filler Killer

You could also go another route and try Auto Finesse Tough Prep, the concept behind it is that it should not leave oil residue and you can go straight onto sealant application. The benefit is that tough prep should remove IPA resistant sealants that even eraser and filler killer struggle with.

Ive been using it a while and did a Citigo with it a few weeks ago

Oops!

I'll make do with the IPA until its gone then look at something else.

Do you just use an MF cloth with IPA/Eraser?

If decontaminating...I spray onto an applicator pad and work in circles to remove, then another spray and wipe to buff away with a cloth

I find that this double application makes sure its squeeky clean and ready for sealer

Thanks Chris.

Think I will need to build up my applicator pad quota now my MF cloth pile is bulging!

Carpro Eraser will not strip old products from the car, it will remove oils left over from polishing. To totally strip products you need Spies Hecker 7010 or AD Wax Off.

Eraser & IPA will degrade wax, but won't remove it totally.

Strange that

It has on the cars Ive done.

Can you describe what you did?

Thanks

To strip old products?

If not polishing, then wash, clay & use Spies or Wax Off. Then wash again, then belts & braces use eraser or IPA at 1:6.

Eraser alone won't remove wax, unless I suppose it has just about degraded naturally anyway.

I disagree.

I have found that it will..if you use the two application method I describe above, it leaves nothing behind

I even did it my own car which had a few layers..it removed them too

However, as this is not the thread to discuss this..Im out of here

Apologies Carl

Obviously we can only share our personal experiences but I've found eraser to be very effective at removing carnauba based wax from paint. Stands to reason that it would as it's main job is to emulsify oils. It's not often I am stripping a freshly applied wax coat in fairness and probably like everyone else I will use it as part of a multi stage decon but eraser has generally done a good job.

Far less so on polymer based sealants etc those I find generally need a polish/cleanser.

Wasn't going to comment again...but this is straight from CarPro....

"it will degrade waxes since waxes use large contents of oil.

It won't strip it back in one go, such as a silicone remover would like Spies hecker 7010.

IPA while commonly used for removing waxes also isn't the best choice"

You could also try fairy liquid....not

On this note though I agree with mark I've found that eraser works well for me too.

The quote link please?

I cant see CarPro themselves mentioning another product NM

However.... as youre adamant on proving us all wrong...

BUT.....I've used it extensively and therefore cant see the point in arguing with you

CarPro approved detailer, not adamant in proving anyone wrong at all, just providing the truth.

Don't argue then, & stop thread spoiling, you were out of here at one point...

Sorry to the OP

It's up for discussion that's the point of the forum. I wouldn't call it thread spoiling.

If something works for you then I don't see the harm in recommending it, we are all going to like and dislike certain products.
