Looking for a rear bumper

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

A few weeks ago in France someone nudged into the back of my 2012 mk2 vRS (green) and left a nice crease in the back bumper. Feeling sorry for the guy, being in a foreign country and in a rush to get back to the UK (and having nudged people in the past myself), I told him to forget about it.

I was wondering if anyone knows somewhere to pick up a cheap rear bumper in the UK. Also, if I find a green one what are the chances it would go on without needing a respray?

Assuming I get one and it doesn't need painting are they easy to swap out yourself? The boot, lights etc etc are all fine, its just minor cosmetics and you can hardly see it but the plastic is rubbing the edge of the boot lid slightly and I don't want it removing the paint there.

Cheers

James

That sucks mate :-( very very kind of you haha. I'm also looking for a rear bumper (black) I've had a look on eBay and you can get hold of them but all the ones I've seen on there are battered and are actually worse than my current one! I've got spoken to dealer yet about prices. Probably no point...

It will eventually take off the paint on boot lid Like you say, because that's exactly what's happened with mine :-(. I've managed to bodge it at the mo so no longer catching but I need the lower part of the tailgate resprayed now.

Hi lads, a similar thing happened to me, i've kept the bumper, as it's not badly scuffed, but had to have the lower section of the bootlid resprayed (around the number plate). It cost £290.00 @ the VAG bodyshop in Coventry. If i'd had them sort a new bumper + resprayed, it would have been around £900.00 all in.
