Number Plate Surround Fitting

Featured Replies

So I bought some number plate surrounds for my mk3 vrs.... Didn't realise that the number plates don't screw on but instead are stuck on with adhesive.

Has anyone fitted these plate surrounds to their octy? If so how did you for them? I appreciate I'll need to pull the plates off but don't want to damage them in the process...

Cheers

Use strong thread or thin fishing line in a sawing motion behind number plate to cut through the adhesive pads.  Should be two threaded holes into which you can screw short bolts to fix number plate surrounds.  Number plates should fit into the surrounds without use of extra bolts or pads - mine do.

  I used these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/SKODA-Number-Plate-Surrounds-Pair/dp/B007D3T1VQ

I have the Vrs plates had them about 5 yrs now, held on with 2 screws number plate held in with clips so no screws.

Thanks for the replies all. So there are holes behind the number plates then. Cool - I'll for them later. :)

Yellow and white.

I found i needed to double sided tape the outside edges of the surround as i didn't like them sticking out.
