I know it's been discussed before and I've checked other threads but does anyone know which is the actual problem that causes wet carpets in the back footwells of the fabiaVrs????? ther is some debate whether it is door seals or the sealing of the ancilliary plate in the door. My door seals LOOK ok but they is water on top of the seal when it rains and I can see adribble of water running over the plastic trim and dripping on the carpet. it is so bad I have had to pull up the carpets in the rear and dryed them out with a fan heater.

any good ideas ????

When mine was repaired the dealer said it was a known problem with the door seals. They re-sealed the rear doors and the problem has now gone away

IIRC its the door seals that are at fault as you predict.

Its actually the ancillary door panel which needs resealing because it has a foam seal around it which leaks into the inside of the door and into the carpet, you have to remove the door trim and remove some bolts to loosen the panel and reseal around it in a U shape and its a common problem !

I had this problem on my Seat Ibiza (2003 model) about 8 months after I bought it new. I can't remember what the dealer said was wrong nor how their fixed but I have a feeling the dealer had to fit a shield where the leak was. The leak was back of the front passenger seat in the 3 door model.

Correct.

Its also why they have now changed to pop rivets instead of the bolts as they allways do upto the correct torque.
