Unplugging ABS fuse

Featured Replies

Had a go at this today just to see what the car would feel like without it as I'm having a few problems with it at the minute and want rid of it anyways. Before people start rhyming on about removing safety devices blah blah blah- bore off, I don't care.

When I unplugged it I was under the impression it would only turn off the Traction control and the ABS but it brought them two lights up and also the power steering light and Engine light, I plugged it straight back in as I didn't want to risk it. Anyone know why it brought up all the lights? It says on the fuse layout at the top of the page it's just Abs and traction control unit? Cheers

Probably just the engine ecu saying I can't talk to abs ecu anymore. Only way to be sure is too plug VCDS in.

Never tried this but been meaning too.

I done it when a crap garage I used fitted a bearing wrong and mullered the sensor. Dash lit up like a christmas tree and constant buzzer/beeping going off when driving. Went back in within 200 meters lol. I'd have taken it out for the track day I dont with it otherwise, on some of the heavy braking zones with the brembos and no interior it was kicking in.

Thanks mate, it's going to get the map changed for the hybrid tomorrow so I'm going to query about him mapping it out or turning it off completely whilst still having the traction button working. First car I've had with abs and I hate the thing, cuts in all the time now I've got my brembos on I think it's a faulty sensor on the front right but tbh I'd rather just have it removed

Mines always kicking in with the brembos and no interior now Matt, and the 256's on the back

Which fuse are you unplugging? No. 25 in the cabin fusebox? Or number 7 in the battery-top fusebox?

Try the 40A strip fuse in the box on top of the battery instead (No.4; 4th from left). I think that might cause fewer dash lights to come on.

ive just been going through the cabin fuse box I may try that if my mapper can't do anything with it

Haha, hardcore. It does sound like a possible sensor fault, I really had to provoke it to get them to kick in, but every lap round bedford (autodrome not the town before anyone has a breakdown) it got boring. :D

I did this to mine sunday. Took out the 40A fuse on top of the battery to isolate the pump. It brings up the abs and traction lights but i can now use the brakes and stop yeeeey

Could you not just unplug the abs ecu?

Could you not just unplug the abs ecu?

I did a pump on mine and left it disconnected like a tool! Plus the speedo doesn't work and lights up like Blackpool haha
