Wheel brush

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend me a good SOFT wheel brush, I've previously used one I got when I bought my nilfisk washer , but it's seen better days and is not the best for getting into tighter areas of the alloys.

my alloys are mostly polished metal so ideally a really soft brush or micro fibre brush would be good.

Thanks in advance.

I use wheel woolies. The angled one is good

Thanks, not as cheap as I thought though.

Currently using a Daytona Speedmaster Pro and some wheel woolies (straight+angled) as a good selection of brushes for all types of alloy tackled so far this year :)

I also use the wheel woolies and a dooka sheepskin wheel pad for the front and intricate bits as demonstrated by a certain site sponsor from Bingley.....

Mmmm....now let me think Ade

Our cars have an easy to reach profile...so Dookas work well

The alloys on Carls Yeti are a smaller/narrower one...so need a brush to fit

Ah the master speaks....LOL. Sorry my mis-I wasn't aware Carl needs something smaller as I've never cleaned a Yeti! The small Dooka is really good on the Neptunes though.....

Have you tried the ones from LE/KKD Ste?

I was looking at them Ben; but i have a full set of both straight+angled versions - both long and short;

so seemed a bit excessive. Marc was offering a decent price pre-launch - but i didnt buy them.

UF do a good deal and with discount code are good..

Thanks for the recommendations guys. It's looking like wheel woollies are the ones to go for then.

I've never seen a discount code for UF? Does Briskoda have one?

I do like the look of the Wheel Furby's on Liquid Elements website.

Detailing Nation have discount code for them: £15.99 including postage for the first 10 buyers. I've just put the code in and it's acccepted it, so I guess that it is still active.

UF run codes or discount promotions most months - if you are on the mailing list.

Also - they run a customer loyalty scheme which has about 4 tiers i think.....

2.5% discount; then 5%, 7.5% and 10% depending on how much you spend.

I think I prefer the Annapurna's on the old Yeti Carl

Better still, with new badges

Result - let us know how you get on when they arrive.

Or have you not ordered yet?

Not ordered, but very tempted.

It's just the bit about not being suitable for harsh chemicals that puts me off as I'm not fastidious about keeping my wheels clean.

Yet!

I'd need a more aggressive brush first, then these with a less harsh chemical (like what, I don't know).

I was looking at getting some of the Carbon Collective ones from eBay for £31.99 but I think the Furby's will do at that price. Order placed, let's see how they do.

Are the bristles soft enough not to scratch polished alloys?

I would say so, they are the same as all EZ brushes, only real difference is this has a tough, stiff handle.

Thanks, I'm really unsure what to go for Grrr!

As a bit of a curve ball have you protected your alloys? I've done mine with carbon collective ceramic sealer after seeing Chris' and it makes them so much easier to keep clean. I used to have to apply a couple of applications of bilberry wheel cleaner as well as a jetwash and snowfoam, but now just a jetwash and clean with the same AG shampoo I do the rest of the car does the trick. TBH from what I've tried anything with soft long bristles that has all the shaft covered in soft plastic so the steel doesn't scratch your alloys will do a decent job if you don't want to get the wheel woolies, though steer clear of the oblong microfibre ones as they surround a sponge so are difficult to push between the spokes and will probably do more harm than good.

I have sealed them with Auto fineness mint rims, It does make it easier but the car is still relatively brand new and produces ridiculous amounts of brake dust.

I was planning on sealing them again with clarity bought from marks GB I imagine it will perform better as mint rims is only a wax and not a coating. (I still really rate it)

I think I'm going to pay the premium and go for the woollies originally suggested , I hate buying lower priced products and then being really disappointed , thinking I may as well have just paid the extra in the first place.

It won't be for a while though as I'm really not doing very good lately, should have booked the wife's car in with Chris sooner really. 2 yetis is too much for me lol. Plus I have a glass back!

Thanks for your recommendation though littleade.
