  • Facelift A6 has 272 hp in mid-range DSG spec and only £130 a year to tax (155mph + 5.5 s 0-60 + mid 40's mpg).   Big discounts too (22%) make them cheaper on PCP than you might think. Just go easy w

I can do that in a 1.7 van

I can do that on my bicycle ;). No George not tracking it, but you can still go sideways in some parts (allegedly). More seriously, it's not just about on the limit handling. Some cars are just more fun, see Boss Fox thread on the fiesta.

The works pool cars which we use to get parts and run errands and customers can borrow get seriously hammered. 61 S3, 62 Merc E250, 57 530D M Sport.

Makes no difference, I hammer mine. The important part is oil changes / servicing.

I have read Bossfoxes reviews of the Golf R and Audi S in the Golf R thread on this page.

I was obviously driving on different roads from him,

and i have no track experience or GTR experience & only drive automatics and like the DSG boxes..

Yes but not 50 mph up farm tracks you wouldn't take a Land Rover in some cases.

I guess it all comes down to how much the drivers willing to push.

Personally. I wouldnt feel confident enough to push so hard in a quick car, on the road.

But some are, and some do. Nutters! Haha.

Oo lovely!

What engines in the ibiza fr?

I get confused between them. They all seem to be FR's lol.

It's only a 1.4 ACT which means it switches a couple of cylinders off to save fuel. Power is 140ps so more than enough.

Sounds brill.

Same as the polo GT isnt it?

Bl****y hell. Not sure I'm in any rush to tamper with the ECU, it's quick enough standard, on a public road anyway. It's noticeably quicker in a straight line than my mapped Octy, and chassis wise in a different country, no wait; a completely different space continuum. No need to mess about with uprated RARB anyway, at least not for your average Joe driver like me. The level of grip is deeply impressive, even on summer tyres on freshly gritted greasy roads this evening, where it's been between 0 and 2 Deg C for the drive to Pembs and back. On an open flowing twisty, this thing must be a riot, I didn't detect much understeer, even under full WOT coming off a RAB there was no drama, just thrust towards the horizon! I can only begin to laugh hysterically what another 100Nm and 50bhp would be like, the problem is looking at various dyno plots on various forums, most remaps result in a massive increase in torque low down at around 2800 / 3000 or so, and whilst it's flat so generating high power at high engine speeds, I still think that shove upsets the balance of the car, just when you don't want it. Ironically, I'd prefer a map that did little more than 10% increase in torque below 4k, and then progressively unleash mayhem. Anyway, what do I know, other than this is rather good fun to hoon about in, but as ever a little more grunt wouldn't go amiss. all in all, I have to admit that the 2.0TSI engine in this guise is one hell of a device, turn off the rather cheesy sound resonator effect and it still sounds gruff and throaty, and practically sprints to the limiter much more enthusiastically than the Octy did.

The standard sound system must be pretty pants mind, I've got the upgraded one with an extra speaker, subwoofer and a few more watts. It's loud alright, but about as subtle as a night in Ibiza on class A narcotics. One for the audiophiles amongst us it is not. DAB radio is neat, the bluetooth phone thing works well, seats are comfy, but these are all standard VAG modules similar / identical all over their ranges. A full set of 235/35 Wintrac Xtreme S's are on their way from Holland this week, so I hope it freezes over and snows every day from next Monday until April.

In other news, the wife (to be) loves her little Ibiza, coming from an X plate Focus 1.6 she's understandably impressed with the way it drives. I haven't tried it yet, and not in any hurry to test it out, but it looks tidy enough.

Pleased you like it.

Was that with 99 ron minimum petrol in the tank,?

it makes a fair difference.

Please keep updated on the 1.4 TSI ACT as well.
