Featured Replies

Tried to start my Octavia this morning , digi display on dash is u/s , engine will turn over , fire and cut out , don't appear to have electrics to indicators , I've read somewhere that cold weather can affect the digi display , any ideas how I can fix it please .

Since its warmed up display has come come back , but clock showing wrong time , air bag warning light stays lit

check battery (load test ) and get codes read first

Does this have to be done by a Skoda main agent ?

Almost certainly a failing battery. As mentioned a load test will confirm this.

No need to involve the main dealer. Most motor factors shops can do this test for free.

If is is the battery (very likely), and the airbag light continues to stay on, it will need to be cleared with VCDS or someone with a basic diagnostic machine.

The first cold weather of the year usually highlights failing batteries!

Cars booked in with my local garage for diagnostic report , battery hasn't shown signs of failing , I did read on the "Honest Johns" website that the LCD display can fail in low temps , and after last nights frosts my display was non existent - I'm hoping it's nothing too serious , car has been very good in the 3 years that I've had it

It wasnt that cold! The wifes Audi's LCD ony ever gets slightly sluggish when its minus double figures like a few years ago, last night was just cold.

When the battery in my Octavia went (at 5 years old), it was sudden with no warning. Just didn't want to turn over one day.

That's the odd thing , I had head lights and it did turn the engine over , engine went to 1000 rpm and cut out , did this repeatedly , but the LCD looked like the numbers had melted , there was no definition to the numbers ,just a mess of squiggles , there were no warning lights at all , so I checked the fuses in the cabin fuse box .. My skoda sat at the side of the road end of March till mid June and started first turn of the key , last week I drove it to norfolk , today was just really strange , at least tomorrow I'll have a better idea of what went wrong

Update - MOTEST garage had car in for diagnostic check, only fault logged was interruption of power to airbags ( probably when I pulled the fuse to check it ) battery good on start up and when running , and they didn't charge me for doing it - result
