battery disconnection - stereo code loss ?

Featured Replies

Hi all, I wish to do some work which involves removing the battery, will I loose the code on my stereo or will there be any other issues on re-connecting the battery. The car is a 2008 Octavia elegance 2.0 tdi.

no the code is stored in the car's memory

the other thing you will get is lots of warning lights after reconnecting your battery but a quick drive and they should go out

As above plus electric window settings will be lost.

Wind down & click again. Wind up & click again. Repeat for all windows.

Steering light will stay lit until you drive slowly in straight line for about 10-20 meters.

The only potential problem is that someone may have changed the stereo and that code will not be auto stored.

Nope, the memory stores up to three Skoda stereo codes at once so even if it's not the original one it should be fine. Mine has the factory Audience unit and my Bolero upgrade both in there.

Yeah as soon as you put a new stereo in and imput the code the car then remembers it.

You will be fine.

Had my battery off several times and had no problems.

Make sure you remove the negative first. Then when refitting install the live first. Just in case you didn't know already... which I'm sure you do :nerd:

Otherwise sparks might fly  :D
