A little help

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just bought a skoda fabia 1.2 classic 5dr. there's a couple of questions i have and if any one could help me that would be great.

1 - there is a slight juddering when the car is idle, i don't really do much mileage but i want to check if it's anything thing to do with the timing belt/chain?

2 - There is a creaking noise to the nearside front (i noticed and pointed this out on the test drive) , however the previous MOT stated there was an advisory on a deteriorated arm rubber brush, which was not picked up on the new MOT. I've not paper work saying if this has been fixed.

3 - is there meant to be central locking? i understand there is no remote central locking but the way the locked go down in the rear suggests there should be some form of central locking.

I appreciate any help and i'm hoping if there are any issues i can take it back to the deal to get sorted under the 3 month warranty.

Thanks in advance

juddering could be coil pack or leads

creaking could be bush or topmount

not all have central locking if you ring a main dealer give them your reg they should be able to tell you

Most probably a Console Bush, it's normal to replace both sides at once.

What year is the car?

I've got a set of 1.2 Coikpacks for sale if wanted. Also the rubber boot on the engine cover can become wedged in on the 1.2 and slightly block the throttle bosy

it's 2003

Regarding to question #3, can you elaborate little bit more about central locking? I've also just bought the car and I wondered about central locking as well.

Same as mine was which had central locking as standard but you lot don't seem to have it, odd what does your key look like

Well the buttons on the door got flat so there is no "knob" sticking out to pull up so the only way to open is by the inside door handles in the rear  and either the door handle or key on the front

Has it got a locking/unlocking switch on the driver's door like this?...

If it turns out that your car doesn't have central locking, here are the instructions from the owners handbook...

if you don't have central locking but want it, i created a guide on how to add it

So I think we've established that it has no central locking then and that the locking knobs are still meant to go flush with the doors. Mine's a Classic as well but it has both central locking and electric windows. It all depends on what extra-cost options were ordered for the car when new.
