Feel a bit silly but how do you insert a photo into a post?

 

I have tried the photography forum but that seems to be the ins and out of taking or dealing with the camera.

 

If I try to insert a pic using the image icon it asks for properties and a URL (Not too sure what URL stands for! But I will try Google ) Anyway my photos are in folders or on my desktop, entering in the c:\my pictures\name did not work and how to enter the desktop location I have no idea. What sizes can/should I use.

 

Tried copy and paste and although I could see it on screen within the post when 'posted' it was not there.

 

Is there an idiots guide on here somewhere, 'cos I seem to need it!

Never thought to look in there, it seemed to be for reporting bugs and website or forum issues, perhaps the title should include  'and idiot guides'

 

I will have a play later, see if I can insert a photo.
