Car Service Questions

Recommended Posts

My 2-year old Fabia Elegance DSG has 9000 miles on the clock and it's 2nd service is now due. My local Skoda dealer has quoted me £240 all-in - is this about right? The Skoda website says the fixed price for a 10,000 mile service is £139 but this "participating Skoda dealer" says £139 only applies to cars over 4 years old (??).

Also, someone on these boards with the VAGCOM software very kindly did some 'tweaks' for me, such as changing the country to Australia so I can have the large MPH MaxiDot display, plus increasing the power steering assistance to make the steering lighter. Will the dealer reset these during the service or should I tell them about these custom mods before I leave the car with them?

Any advice will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Looks like you are on the fixed service shedule so the first service is a minor at 10,000 miles or 12 months which ever comes first. The second is a major service and is 10,000 miles after the first service or 24 months again which ever comes first. So your car is due a major service hence the £240 rather than the £139. IIRC some ask for a minor and pay extra for the extra bits like the pollen filter which will work out cheaper, but I don't know the exact details but someone who's done this will no doubt help.
