Octavia No Spare Wheel

Featured Replies

Bought an Octavia today. No jack or spare wheel in boot. Salesman reckons they dont have them and it comes with a foam cannister you spray in the wheel if you get a puncture.

Is he bulsh*ttin me or is he correct?

The default configuration can be without them for some trim levels, but they can and do come with spares, some with full size ones matching the road wheels.

To me it's a condition of sale that the car must have a spare wheel kit. No spare, no sale. Tell him to get one out of another one. Or out of a Superb, as they're the same.

He isn't bulling you. The spare is a factory option, but you can get the spare wheel kit that comes conplete with the wheel, jack, wheel brace and the centre expanded foam insert to hold the tools. Niether of my 2 mk2 octys had a spare, but I bought the kit for my vRS. You could see if the salesman will do you one at cost as a goodwill gesture or try ebay as they are advertised on there sometimes. Another option would be to become a freedom member and post a wanted ad.

Just seen this topic,i offered to view the car in Tadcaster for you in the other topic,no need now as you have bought one,did you buy the one in Tadcaster?

Sorry didn't see your post been out all day. Really appreciate the offer tho. The one at Tadcaster was just to far for me to travel to view it, tho if I'd of had the nod it looked ok I would have gone to look for myself.

Bought one today closer to home. Not a lot around this area in my price range but that one looked ok and my gut feeling was it would of been a cracker. I travelled to warrington once to look at a rover after asking the seller (trade) lots of questions first to reasure myself it was worth the trip. One look at it quickly told me it should have been in a scrap yard. Sarcy trader didn't giv a toss that he had wasted my time having me traveling all that way for nothing.

The one ive had will be ok but cant help feeling I could of done better given a bigger selection to choose from.

If ur looking to buy a spare I have one for sale- see the ad in car parts section or PM me

It's normal across most car makers to have it as an optional extra nowadays.

I guess partly cost cutting, but probably just as much that a massive amount of people don't know HOW to change a tyre nowadays, lazy f*ckers! The canister has an idiot guide on it, and even that baffles some. :S

The weight saving also means a slight improvement in the official mpg figures.

I have always carried a full sized spare wheel in every previous car I have owned.  However, my current car has 225/40-18 tyres (winters are 225/45-17) and the Skoda dealer supplied spare is 205/55-16.  I have considered fitting a real full-sized spare but would need different for summer and winter and haven't yet convinced myself to buy 2 extra wheels and tyres.

I thought the standard tyre repair kit was a can of gunk with a 12v tyre inflator? I got a full size steel spare for mine as an option, extra £75.00, tyre size 195x65 15 yellow rim with a 50mph speed limit if using it, standard tyres on alloy wheels 205x60 15.

However did not get the tyre repair kit

Same here, my car didn't have a spare when we purchased it, dealer explained it could be the difference in co2 banding.

They were fine with replacing it with a spare and jack as a condition of the sale.

In 18 years of driving I've had one flat - that will jinx it! But the can of squirt just never seemed the right option for me.

Yes. If you get get the tyre, they take back the gunk & inflator.

Not sure when they stopped fitting spares as standard. My 07 had one .

I bought a full size Zenith from ebay and had it refurbished as a container of gunk is useless if you get sidewall damage.

I just need to get the jack, brace, foam insert etc.  I will try the local breakers as the price on ebay is a bit high once postage/courier is taken into account.

Does anyone know of a reutable breaker in South Devon?

It was around or just after the facelift time cos I remember someone mentioning it just after I bought my car.
