Noise rear shock absorber

Featured Replies

In the past few weeks there has been a loud crunching, grinding sound coming from the offside rear wheel area.

I took it to the dealers 2 weeks ago and was told the shock needed replacing, waited a week for the part to arrive, it was fitted and drove the car home it was fine. Then all of a sudden the sound started creeping back and loud again. Just dropped the car off today.

Any clues anyone?

Ive just called the dealer and there now telling me that the noise is coming from the tyres. They are saying its because the tyres are oversized. Ive been running 225's for nearly 2 years and ive never had a problem. The wheels on now are 225/45/17 17x7 and et38. I do not believe the noise is coming from the tyre. Where the tread meets the tyre wall it does look like its rubbing and some plastic from the wheel arch liner has broken away.

It doesnt make sense through.
