Location Of Pollen Filter And Air Conditioning Drain?

Featured Replies

My 2011 estate appears have to been kept under a tree for most of it's life and I keep finding green algae and gunk from decomposed leaves in areas the dealer's cleaners missed.

So I want to check the pollen filter and air conditioning drain, where are they located and how prone are they to being blocked by leaves?

If the air conditioning drain gets blocked where does the water leak out ?

Is water ingress from the pollen filter something that happens to Superb IIs or only Super Is?

Thanks,

Cabin filter;

Get down into the passenger footwell, remove the carpet (unless you want it to get really dirty.) and have a vacuum handy.

Unscrew the plastic screws (2) by hand

Remove the foam footwell cover (gently, don't rip the bits around the vents)

The plastic piece is the bottom of the pollen filter cover, slide to 1 side to unlock it.

Carefully let the plastic piece drop down, the pollen filter is sitting on top of it. Chances are lots of things are going to fall down into the footwell.

Vacuum the footwell, plastic cover, and inside of the now empty box. Vacuum the filter too (or refit a new one, they cost next to nothing)

If you have moisture in the filter, simply cleaning out all the gunk won't do - you'll have to replace it. Partnumber for the OEM cabin air filter is 1K1819653B, this is the version with the added charcoal filtering thing.

And voila, that's one thing sorted. I do this about every 6 months, replace the filter myself once a year. Another thing you can tell your dealer to NOT do at the next service, so you save a few bob!

Good guide with pictures HERE or HERE, and you can even see the while thing on Youtube HERE or HERE

As for blocked drains, I'd say have a good look around the bonnet opening, there are drains there that runoff into the engine bay for water that runs down the windshield - take a hose to the car and see if it runs away freely.
