  • I'm keeping out of this as I am one of those no heads mentioned earlier.

  • I think he meant nob head.

  • Skoda Octavia Scout estate, 184bhp diesel, 4x4, DSG, seriously capable car in sheeps clothing.   It may be the same money as the Audi's you linked but it is a hell of a lot of car...   http://www.

You can buy a Seat Leon 2.0 TDI FR 184 for under £18,000 on the internet . How much is an equivalent A3?

Can you? Where?

How much is the equivalent skoda? Lol

Rather will have two Skoda in garage then one Audi...and for that price yes it is possible...;)

not A3 but, Ive a seen a couple of A7's knocking around, generally parked up or thundering down the Motorway.

However, i finally ended up behind one of em yesterday, in the dark when he was turning off the road.

I really couldnt help notice the high level brake light is nigh on the FULL width of the rear window.

Looks ridiculous imo...

Brothers got an 56 plate a3. Its nice. Quiet, smooth etc

Tbf dads 2010 top of the range golf sportline was a little nicer. Although it was 4 years newer so hard to compare.

So disappointed I missed this thread with the funny comments.

Audi drivers.. not a lot you can say really is there. :D

I see no point at all in buying a regular Audi, they are (IMO) overpriced and under specified.

If you are going to get one, get something other (cheaper) car makers like Skoda don't compete with.

Otherwise the cheaper car make is usually a better buy.

The Dacia Sandero is the same as my 12 year old Clio. Ridiculous.

mender will be pleased, i saw a brand new Dacia Logan today... Iirc he said previously he liked it, but it wasnt on sale in uk.... Its here in ireland though

Just been reading up and the Sandero 75 which is the same engine as mine somehow has less range as well as a lower top speed by 10mph. It's gone backwards...

Father-in-law has a new 2014 A3 hatch 2.0d 183.

Wanted quattro but didn't want dsg, so opted for the fwd manual.

Generally very pleased with it but has has some quality issues with it. Bit of chrome trim replaced that was discoloured and is going in for a dash rattle.

mpg is good

Have an s3 but being honest if I was going for a 184 I would go either Octavia or leon

I'm guessing the Sandero is heavier than a Clio?

Yeah 300kg more iirc

Yeah 300kg more iirc

So 4 1/2 of me, in the Clio at all times = a Sandero??? Jeezus.....

Mine weighed 950kg with a full tank on a local weighbridge iirc. I've towed with the Clio but I expect it to be slow then. Don't think I could put up with a Sandero which doesn't have any toys unlike the Clio

To be fair though, if you're buying a Dacia, you arent gonna be too bothered. Its cheap, it goes (kind of) and thats that.

Thats the target audience i think. Tight buggers with no interest lol.

I see lots of Dacia Duster at quite nice houses with well kept gardens, caravans etc.

I expect that many of the older owners have had nice cars in the past, company cars etc, and know a bargain and are buying keepers

with Cash Money.

It allows them to have holidays and also reliable transport that is not just made up of useless bling, gedgets & badge snobbery.

You do get a lot for your cash.

Rubbish seating position though IMO.

Dacia - cars as white goods. Just perfect for some people.

Even I was briefly tempted by the idea of a £12k 4x4 with 5yr warranty.

SWMBO would never have one because she's a badge snob but it would be idea for her really.

I'm sure you mean "ideal for her"

"idea for her" :giggle: kinda suggests you're about to buy her one for Christmas
