Fabia Vrs Dash Backlit/main Lights Flickering Issue

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've noticed a problem with my Fabia vRS that only happens when it has been raining for a while and that is the green backlit on the dash (clock and odometer) starts flickering brighter/dimmer. The same thing happens with the front lights. It never happens in the dry only in the wet. The garage looked at it when the gearbox was being repaired but before I realised it was an "In the Wet" issue and when they had the car, they couldn't find any error codes but the weather was bone dry on the week they had it.

Any ideas what they should be looking for? Is it likely to be expensive to fix? I've just spent a few hundred quid on having the gearbox sorted out and another big bill would be the last thing I need :(

If I ignore it for a while, how likely is it to cause a major running issue?

Cheers for any advice in advance!

My dash lights flicker intermittently also when the wipers are on first setting. Completely random flickering and occasionally the wipers will do a double sweep the same time.

Headlights definitely are Not affected tho. I've searched lots on this forum but only found a couple of references with no fix? ....

My interior light also does this

Mine does it as well. The interior lights flicker, my reversing light flickers when I move the steering wheel and my dash lights flicker but normally when I have the dimmer set near full brightness, I thought I had a dodgy stereo because that started to do it as well until I realised that it was because I had the dimmer settings on auto meaning it was doing what the dash lights we're doing.

I suspect it's a dodgy earth somewhere but it doesn't bother me enough to look.
