Front Bumper Mounting Pushed In?

Featured Replies

I had a little accident, thankfully no real damage done but it ripped the splitter off my car as I essentially crashed into an empty ford on a narrow lane (it was dark, on a corner, my fault [hands up]

Now on the nearside which I think took the brunt of it the bumper is much tighter to the wing in the arch compared to the nose of the wing, so I think the lower part of the bumper has perhaps been pushed in around 10mm perhaps, maybe not even that much.  Just trying to think where on the car there might need to be a little persuasion to line the bumper back up (persuasion = big hammer :D)

Something to contemplate for my next full day of overhaulling which will be done in December.... :)

Mountings in the wing have probably bent. AFAIK the bumper and other fixings are plastic. Hopefully it might just have ridden up/over a little and you can take it apart and re-assemble though. Otherwise, "persuasion" might be required. Once persuaded, though you'll likely have cracks in paint etc. Underseal or anti-rust paint the area or it might become a rusty spot.

I'd agree with this

Yeah - the bumper has touched the wing before and rubbed off some paint. :)  Not too worried about that to be honest.  I did think in my head there are no solid points of fixing on the underside of the bumper so wasn't sure where the malformation has occurred :D
