dash lights for side and headlamps

Featured Replies

Hope someone on here can help me. I have just taken delivery of my first ever skoda - MkIII octavia elegance 2.0 Diesel DSG. Am delighted with it but have one small query which is really bugging me - maybe just me being stupid.

When exterior lights are set to automatic and are lit or when I use the switch to turn them on manually there are no (normally green) lights on dash lights for side or dipped headlamps - there is an indicator for main beam (normal blue). This is first car I have had with no such warning dash lights - my previous car (Qashqai) had auto lights and warning lamps displayed whenever they were activated. No DLR's on that though.

Is it the case there are simply no warning lamps or are mine not working? Local dealer didn't know and as they did not supply the leased vehicle were not really interested (quote "thats probably correct because they are automatic")

Thanks

VAG cars don't have lights on the dashboard - only on the light switch.  Confused me at first too.

Ahh great thanks. Not had VAG for years now. The old models I had may or may not have had them - can't remember that detail that far back.

Cheers

The light symbol next to the switch turns green when the lights are on. I think. I'm now doubting myself...

It does, the sidelight graphic goes a brighter green

I've had the same annoyance with my current Volvo. The light switch has a light that tells you if the lights are on or off, but it makes no distinction if they are the side lights or dipped beams. The only way to tell is from the position of the switch.

I've started driving without lights more than a few times because of it. Especially since the switch is obstructed by the steering wheel.
