Arrrgghh I cant believe how useless they are!

Just got a letter through about the felicia saying "thank you for informing us of scrapping your vehicle blah blah blah"

Scrapping it? I've only just god da*n well bought it!

Until I get hold of them where do I stand with the police on this if I'm driving it? It's got it's full MOT etc will I get done if I get pulled for any reason?

I'd keep the letter with you so if you did get pulled, you could explain that a mistake has been made by the DVLA and you are getting it sorted. They should be pretty understanding if you have some backup to your claim.

How about just dropping into your local police station, get advise? Seemed friendly enough and perhaps they could make a note until it's resolved.

Afterthought - I'm guessing the previous owner had the car 'offroad' and you had to put new tax on it after buying it?

They may have ticked the wrong box(es) on the form in that case which could explain it - in which case it wouldnt be the DVLA's fault

Got through to them, it would seem they "hit" the wrong button

So they will send me a new V5 and all should be fine! Just shows how useless they really are, no wonder Jase is having problems lol

The ones that wind me up though aren't things like this (although annoying) - it's the adverts about 'we will find you if you don't pay your car tax' ones -

Same car has been reported to the DVLA on a weekly basis. It is still driving around. It is uninsured, untaxed and unsafe. Police don't want to know either ( I asked at the reception desk when I had to do my paperwork for the 3 pointer, as I was there) as it's not something they deal with...

When the previous keeper sent the V5 back to the DVLA it sounds like they ticked the wrong box, rather than new keeper they ticked scrapped.
