Ok, bit of an annoying problem. My boot will not close properly and i'm convinced that it is due to the release catch (On the sil, the bit that is activated when the released button is pushed on the key fob) being too tight on the latch (On the boot) as it closes, ensuring that the latch will not fasten shut properly.

 

I am going to adjust the catch's rest position at the weekend, but as a favour if anyone could post a picture of the release catch in it's resting position (from a functional boot, obviously) so I have something to aim for I would be very grateful.

Does it bounce back sometimes when you go to shut it?

Yes, that's it! I thought it may be the link between the release motor and the catch lever being too short but the spring sticking in the motor makes perfect sense as the catch is clearly not moving back far enough to be clear of the boot's latch. Will have a go at freeing it up tomorrow.

 

Would still be grateful for any pictures of functioning catches to see what position it should fall back to.

I couldn't find any pics when looking at mine as the general consensus was to replace the whole lot....I forgot to take any too.

 

Once you get the white motor apart it's quite self explanitory

The joys of working somewhere with a workshop, the motor was sticking, we've now freed it up, shall fit back onto the car before driving home.
