Drivers Side Door Lock Repair

Featured Replies

Hi

Today the lock broke on my Octavia '06 Estate, the key just kept spinning as I turned it. I've managed to remove the lock and have located a broken part in there (behind the spring). I also see there are repair kits available. However, it seems the locks fitted to this model are unserviceable? There is no circlip to be able to take the unit apart and replace the broken bits unlike VW and Audi units (from what I can tell).

Is this right? As I can see no other way to open the unit up, and don't like the idea of slashing £100 on a new whole unit...

This looks like the unit I have http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-SKODA-OCTAVIA-MK2-O-S-F-RIGHT-REPLACEMENT-DOOR-LOCK-KEYS-1Z0898168D-/331003081317, and is held together by 2 small pins (as can be seen at the top of the unit in the picture).

I've tried knocking the pins out but they don't budge.

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I know this was an old question, but did you find a solution to fixing your lock cylinder? I have same problem....

Although I don't have exactly the same problem, my car was broken into and the theif damaged the drivers side door lock.

When locking the door manually, it would not spring back into position.

My dealership did the work through insurance, so I believe that the work can be done.

Guess I'm telling you this for hope, because I don't know how to fix it. But you probably can fix it somehow.
