vrs electric windows not working arrrggghhh!

Featured Replies

hi there I new to the site done lots of research about my problem but cannot find a definite answer or a kind of process of elimination, to find out what is wrong with my windows, none of my electric windows work on the drivers door controls and the passenger side control doesn't operate that window either, ive tried putting the key in the door to open the windows but nothing happens ive also checked the fuses that I think were 48 56 and another one cannot remember off the top of my head, and today ive tried a new drivers side control/button the door lock and unlock works on the panel but nothing when I press the window controls. really starting to pee me off!!!! please help

thanks in advance and any helpwill be greatly appriciated

You will have better luck getting a reply if you post in the right section :)

Moved to the Fabia section, which should get you an answer.

I had similar issue earlier on this year, turned out that a wire had broken in the rubber sleeve between the bodywork and the door itself, I simply soldered a piece of wire in and heat shrinked it and all was sorted.

The passenger side window takes the power feed from the drivers side so this will be why the passenger switch won't be working on it's own.

ive also checked the fuses that I think were 48 56

46 Front right

58 Front left

Both 25 Amp

does anybody have any info they can share with me on this please

Did you check the wires in the rubber trunking between door and A pillar?

Have you tried a reset of the system by disconnecting the  battery for a few minutes?

It'll be the drivers electric window motor thats gone. Had exactly the same with my 56 reg vRS. Be warned there are a number of different part numbers floating round, i bought a couple of second hand ones and the mulli plugs are all different.

Bought new from Skoda in the end (Circa £130) but the right suffix on the part number meant it worked!!!

The drivers window motor contains the circuit board which feeds the passanger window, hence why both dont work, yet the central locking and mirrors do.

Guys, our 05 car just started showing these sort of symptoms.

Vrssnowy, did you fix this? If so was it by replacing the drivers door motor module? Have you still got the old one?

If not; Lofty, did you keep the old one off your car?

If either of you have the old/broken one, any chance I could take a look at it, with a view to trying to find out exactly what fails, and if it's repairable?

I've got the same problem as well. Is it just a matter of swapping new for old part?

Sorry I binned mine as it was toast. Ive been told its the circuit board within the motor that fails, I looked for any dry joints etc but couldn't see anything obvious

Thanks for the info Lofty, much appreciated.

If anyone else has an old dead one, or a used one that might not be dead yet, please give me a shout (especially if it's off an 05> car). Ta.
