Second dealer visit for a 7 week old Fabia

Featured Replies

First the diesel filler flap wouldn't shut. Now the heated rear screen button sticks and takes 5 or 6 prods to turn off. I am not best pleased - my 9 year old Rover didn't cause me nearly this much hassle. :(

You pulled the release cable thingy too hard, when you do the cable can smetimes come of its runner, easy to fix... :-)

I had to go to the dealer lots - my rear heated screen switch does this too :( i found 'just putting up with it' far less stressful as the dealers tend to be unhelpful VVankers !!!!!!

I just pulled it, same as I have every other time. Seems like poor design to me. I presume that the button sticking is somehow my fault too?

It is a bad design as the cabling underneath gets stuck - I've sorted it myself as I got fed up, much like yourself ;)

I think if it happens again I'll probably do it myself. I find waiting for the service manager to utterly fail to return my calls rather tedious. Plus it's half an hour's drive to the garage from home, and I can't get there except at weekends, so even trivial fixes are a real pain.

Ah; it gets better. I was sick of waiting for the service people to call back - when the fuel flap broke they just didn't bother returning the call, so I called back and was told they were busy. Talked to the salesman and he managed to get hold of them; earliest they can do it is a week on Saturday, because I can't get there during the week. No apology for not returning my call.

I am really, really ****ed off with Skoda right now, especially after all the guff about great customer service.

That's not really down to Skoda though, that's down to the specific dealer.

Is there no other dealers you can try to see if you get any better response from them?

Rob.

Fair point. I think I may still be a bit irritated after my journey to work took an extra hour - some eejit drove a truck with a digger on it into a low bridge on the way...

And mostly the car is great, which I suppose makes these niggles stand out more. Though I do wish the seats were better. There aren't any dealers close to where I work, and I can't get back in time for an evening or leave late enough for a morning appointment - I know that's not the dealer's fault.

Bah. I am probably just old and grumpy. And it's not like the engine fell out, but I do wish they'd return calls. :(

I know what you mean mate. I've had a few "niggles" that keep involving long trip to the dealer - 45 mins each way for me. And theres something really irritating about putting fuel in someone elses car... :finger:

I had bad experiences with an incompetant dealer... However my new dealer seems much better, and with the new seat base on order, its only the flickering xenons left to sort! :thumbdwn: ( )

I guess a few niggles with a new car are to be expected, once sorted though the car should run fine for years. I had an old E reg Rover 216, and before the car was 3 years old needed a new sunroof, new exhaust system, and quiet a lot of paintwork repairs before I was satisfied and the passenger electric window had a mind of its own and would blow fuses weekly.

I know it's annoying , but when the worst thing that happens is that a button sticks sometimes then the car is pretty good.

Someone I was talking to today is going back to Citroen for their second warranty replacement gearbox on a C3.........

I know what you mean but it still sux ;)

The biggest gripe I've had so far (by no means a big one, but still) is that the xenons were adjusted very, very badly when the side light & main beam bulbs were swapped by the dealer. Now my xenons are not aligned properly between the two of them AND the lights are not at the correct height (i.e. both are too low, one more than the other). The claim was originally that they couldn't be adjusted for height (which we all know to be incorrect information). Second one is the price of the service which also caused a broken clip on the battery box. I've literally not had time to go visit the dealer to get it resolved, but it has been noted & will get resolved when I go there next, so won't moan about that, that's just one of those things.

But the sticking rear-window-heater button is extremely annoying. It would be fine if it was say the ASR or ESP button, hardly ever use that anyway, but the rear window heater is kinda essential when you leave at 5am... Fully understand how frustrating that is, and then combine it with having to pay for a courtesy car + fuel - hmmm.

True. I think I was in a generally foul mood yesterday, and my apologies for being so darned grumpy.

I did notice on the way home that the button worked fine, but this morning it was sticky again - I'm assuming that something is contracting in the cold and binding. And they said it'd be a "while you wait" fix which isn't so bad - if it had meant a courtesy car then I'd have been stuck with it for a week, and my guess is they'd probably have given me a 1.2! ;)

 - it's usually just a wire being routed badly which catches under the switching gear. Hopefully they'll sort it properly & permanently this time though

Sporky, I got my estate around the same time as you and had the filler release go too. Took the dealer all of 5 mins to fix it, mind you had to wait a week for them to fit me in :thumbdwn: Also am experiencing the rear window heater switch being a bit sticky first thing in the morning though by the sounds not as bad as yours. Was going to leave it for now but will be intersted in seeing how you get on. Still if that's the only problems I have will not be put off too much :)

Just a thought..... take out the blank switches... unplug the heater switch from behind then slot it out.... have a fiddle (u know press it give it a spray with contact spray) then replace.. may help???

After a recent court case (I'll try to find the link) the precidents around rejection of a product are really being tested at the moment, and the meaning of 'satisfactory quality' being pushed.

Only a matter of time before a single delivery fault could realistically result in the car being rejected (should the owner wish to do so).
