Fabia vrs Airtec intercooler

Featured Replies

Hi guys, so i bought a Airtec intercooler from awesome gti after taking advantage of there Black Friday offer!

I should hopefull be getting it later this week!

People who have fitted these, anything too look out for? Or is it pretty simple? From reading I believe there's a small amount of hacking to do on the front crash bar, other than that is it pretty straight forward?

Cheers

Kris

Crash bar and the rad pack need cutting to fit the cooler itself.

So its pretty straight forward!

Its the first time I would of fitted a front mount so was jsut double checking.

I feel pretty confident about it tho :)

Also need some cutting to the bumper and the drivers side lug will have to be removed.

Yup agree with the above having fitted my Airtec 'cooler.

Ah cool, glad i asked the question :)

I cant wait haha! Then in 2 minds weather to do the wide mouth, but unsure about were to mount the licence plate and it actually look good lol! Seen the 3/4 size plate, but seem a grey if they are legal or not..

Bumper needs trimming on the back part

Driver side center bumper mount needs to be cut off

Crash bar cut about or removed.

Radiator housing also need to be trimmed to allo room

Passenger side center bumper mount also needs to be trimmed a touch.

In all for a perfect fit about 4hrs work.

I used air hack saws to cut everything which was loads easier

Your gunna love it even after loads of hard runs the inlet temps and still right down low.

:D that's what I want to be hearing!!!

I was seeing 100 degrees after hard runs on the standard cooler. With the Airtec, a widemouth and a GTB at 2.45bar and I can't get it even to 30 degrees now!!

These are really good intercoolers. Best ones I've seen so far on the fabia platform.

Next time Kev, you and I get together we'll have to do some temp logs. We're all running the same style coolers but all different makes! Be interesting to see how they all perform.
